Introduction
Sorry to Bother You is one of the most famous surrealist films, which people interpret in different ways, but the majority of viewers believe that the society in the story is unethical. WorryFree is a company represented in the Sorry to Bother You, and it mainly orients on business models that change the world systems.
Discussion
From the ethical solidarity perspective, it is not right to allow one group of people to sign a contract but others not. The main operation of WorryFree organization is to ensure individuals that they will find a job and housing when they sign a contract. However, the ethical aspect of employees is underestimated as they might start losing their identity and become the same as they cannot express their feelings.
Even though it is unethical to put people in incubator conditions, individuals decrease their level of stress as they do not have to pay for their bills and provide their children with all necessities. People who have signed a contract with WorryFree take more working positions, and those who prefer to stay individual in their job choice suffer from increasing pressure due to the lack of job propositions. Some workers also stated that they compare the ‘lifetime contract’ with slavery.
The company tried to decrease this disbalance by stating that there was no physical violence, and by comparing the contract to slavery, people offended the organizational policies. However, the company rarely makes similar announcements, and the level of communication stays low. Therefore, those forced to sign contracts because of financial problems or inability to raise children continue thinking that this organization can be equal to slavery.
The workers and their ethical perception are divided into two classes: false consciousness and class consciousness. In the false consciousness, people think that the system where they work is fair as they can get what they need, but in reality, they could receive more than they expect. In the class consciousness, individuals are aware that the specific organization system makes workers anxious and allows capitalists to gain more money from the regime.
These two factors build ethical perceptions and differentiate the ethical solidarity of workers inside and outside WorryFree. Lack of group work and communication between workers also brings problems to understanding reality as people do not share their thoughts and cannot collaborate to cope with societal issues. Even when workers are asked to work together, they always have a leader who takes one specific side. This front-runner also tries to change the minds of others to ensure that everybody is following the same idea to achieve the desired outcome.
Conclusion
When it comes to support, people try to help others during difficult situations when they are not in the best condition. However, it might be related to something other than those who have a stable improvement in their working performance. Those who cannot meet ends feel unethical relationships with capitalists and want to fight against the system. Nevertheless, the class struggle appears when the bodies are used for manual labor. Consequently, even during the unethical solidarity of some individuals, the fight against the problem may be challenging. WorryFree is a good representation of modern reality, which shows that even though ethical solidarity worries people, they should follow the rules of the capitalistic system to survive and raise children.
