The relationship between the feminine and the masculine culture has caused dynamic challenges not only in a subculture but also in sports, entertainment, business, and media. Athlete women are subject to oppression in their participation through mockery and resistance as they see attention from organizations that are supposed to motivate and offer support undermining them, unlike the masculine sports and social environment.
Women’s Roller Derby has provided opportunities through which alternative femininities are constructed and reinforced in the social context. Furthermore, these would disrupt hegemonic gender relations while expanding the understanding of gender maneuvering, thus redefining the dominant relationship between males and females to a normative structure without gender rules violation. Masculine sports are dominated by male support, and the organization networks are deeply rooted, unlike feminine sports, where participants must have masculine transformation features like resistive power to challenges or be considered weak and inferior like other women.
In the modern world, women can build networks and mobilize their resources to sustain the creativity, production, distribution, and promotion of rewards in efforts to transform traditional gender relations. Gender equality is significant in every aspect of life today. Most organizations that undermine females to the top jobs today have females on their management board. This shows that women’s responsibilities are no longer underrated. Most governments have passed the 50/50 rule, which requires equality in all government sectors for both genders.
The Women’s Roller Derby is not a traditional men’s sport. Women have owned their responsibility through aggressive competition and toughness in ensuring success in all possible aspects. It portrays motivation to produce excellence, distribution of content, and creativity from the social network from gender maneuvering strategy.
