Gendered approach is a system that is able to concentrate on both men and women without making any distinctions. In this case gender approach does not mean women like many people perceive but rather generalizes all the sexes. Gender is realized by the formation of activities, functions and obligations that are credited to both male and female in the community. In this way gender approach recognizes the need to collectively treat every individual fairly in the community.
It allows for a greater control and fulfillment in many areas that both male and female are involved in within the society. The gender roles and obligations regularly change because of social, monetary and technological differences. Control is needed in the society to ensure both male and female receive the due protection. Gender approach helps in bringing together the needs of those forced to migrate in different locations (Castles & Davidson, 2009).
Gendered approach in forced migration can be important by ensuring equality for both male and female. Once one is forced to relocate they are vulnerable to the conditions that they will meet in the new location. However, once gendered approach is considered there will be equal opportunity for all thus allowing for common understanding. Women are many a time harassed in the boarder while migrating as they may be regarded as prostitutes.
This approach will help females to be treated with respect just as the male counterparts. These women may also be marginalized for being in a new country thus having bad relationships with the people they meet. Gendered approach always for women to have their roles delegated to them and therefore will not need to depend on men for support. They will have an opportunity to face the challenges of the new territory knowing that they are not les important to their male counter parts (Abusharaf, 2002).
Gender approach in forced migration allows for recreation of moderate policies to suit the immigrants. This can be done by having an evaluation on how to include the new policies into the existing ones. In this way, crimes and violence especially against women in their new surroundings will be minimized. It will allow for national security for the immigrants who are forced to leave their country to another. Discrimination will be avoided an in turn replaced by assistance for these victims. The government is responsible to ensure that the forced immigrants receive the necessary protection and help through gendered approach.
Through gendered approach health conditions and other basic needs of the immigrants will be ensured. This will ensure total control and equal treatment and understanding from all the involved members (Constable, 1997).
The other importance of gendered approach to forced immigrant is the creation of international protection programs. These programs will be observed by every state in the world. This will allow for easier and safer conditions for the immigrants through gendered approach. The programs will create awareness to the immigrants through the state thus allowing better service. This will allow all the victims of forced migration to understand their position and rights thus any mistreatments can be sued. Gendered migration also addresses the needs of sexual violence against both men and women. These kinds of cases are widespread in many migrating populations and are very rampant. This approach has the capacity to address such issues bringing control and security for those who have no one to fight for their needs (Crawley, 2001).
Gendered approach also protects women mostly against cultural practices that bring them down. Immigrants may be forced to live in a country where human rights are not respected. The cultural practices include force marriages and well as forced religion. These people may be forced to practice these cultural practices against their will thus violation the rights of freedom. Gendered approach will help highlight the problems these people are facing. The approach will be able to ensure that human rights are not violated in any way. The need to observe the needs of these people is the work of the gendered approach all over the world. Protection from all sorts of abuse is very fundamental to the gendered approach system (Bustamante, 1983).
Gendered approach brings about equality between female and men within the society. This equality is in terms of socially appreciated factors, economic prospects, resources as well as returns. This in many ways does not imply that female and male are the same but rather the opportunities for everyone in the society are equal. Gender approach recognizes social and economical distinctions that are witnessed among male and female in the society.
This allows varied measures to be taken in various sectors to allow equal opportunity for both male and females. In this way, all treated virtually the same in various areas of the society setting bringing togetherness and fulfillment. For example in the job market women and men have different capabilities and therefore standards are put into place to ensure that both sides are treated equally. This gives the females the same opportunities that the males have bringing a balance in the society(Augustín, 2007).
Gendered approach provides many benefits to both male and female in the society. This is mostly because it does not differentiate between men and women while delegating tasks. Gendered approach is important in that it helps to determine the principles and hierarchies which decide male and female roles in the in the general society. This is important because men are mainly at the top while women are marginalized. It helps in highlighting male and female interests within the community.
In this way, interactions of male and female are well expressed and realized within the society setting. Gender approach in many ways helps look at male and female in terms of age, wealth, background and other aspects in a more real manner. This allows for common understanding and necessary respect and recognition that an individual deserves within a society (Curry-Rodriguez, 1988).
Gender approach is very important in ensuring the needs of both male and female are protected in many ways. Gender approach allows good planning and implementation of human rights needs in various places in the world. Gender issues are neglected in many areas of forced migration and this need to be addressed in various sectors. It is important to have the necessary procedures and policies put in place to protect those in forced migration. Gender approach allows for this kind of interaction by offering protection for both male and female. Many structures of human life should be observed in order to ensure equality and understanding in the society. Gender approach not only ensures equality but also allows for protection of basic human rights. This approach should be considered in all countries and studies should be done to enhance this approach.
