Psychosomatics is gaining popularity, and in this field, one can find an increasing number of new specialists. This is an innovative direction in psychology and medicine, in general, which is born of mind-body dualism and explains how these two components affect each other (Kirmayer et al.) However, it is necessary to note the benefits of learning this branch of psychology because society and medical professionals’ interest in this issue are growing. Psychosomatics is a branch of psychology that explores the relationship between a person’s physical and psychological state and helps me connect with my body, learn to manage my life, and better understand others.

The first helpful change that psychosomatic research can bring to my life is strengthening my relationship with the body, which contributes to a better understanding of my needs and desires. Today’s challenges relate to the interaction of the brain, environment, and genes and how these indicators are displayed when studying accurate medicine (Kirmayer et al.) Biology is learned by children from school years, as well as other sciences that allow the child to know the exciting world and the features of its functioning. Nevertheless, an essential topic for each person is the study of themselves, not only in the anatomical aspect but also in understanding the feelings and emotions and their influence on the state of the soul and body. For example, coming after a hard working day, I may not give myself a rest, believing that my body will be able to withstand large loads, but sometimes I should feel the signals of the body and take a break. Such awareness will allow me in the future to understand my true desires without much thought, and this can preserve physical and psychic health, protecting me from further burnout and disease.

The second advantage of studying psychosomatics is increasing the level of responsibility in my life, which allows me to improve my skills in managing my life. There are events we cause by our actions, and there are things that happen regardless of our will; in this case, we are morally and legally responsible only for what we were involved in (Kirmayer et al.) Studying psychosomatics allows me to focus on my life and learn to take responsibility for every event that happens to me, which is also helpful for self-knowledge. The task of psychosomatics is to maintain a balance between the body and mind of a person, which helps them to live more calmly and enjoy every day they live. For example, if you compare a person who reacts with stress to dismissal from work and someone who perceives the situation calmly and is looking for a way out – the second will be happier and more successful. Thus, studying this branch of psychology allows me to adjust my body to productive and measured work without unnecessary experience, which affects the quality of my life and improves it significantly.

Finally, the third feature of studying psychosomatics, which can positively affect my life, is improving the quality of communication with other people and a better understanding of their feelings. How people perceive our life experience affects our interaction with others, which changes our experience and perception of life as a whole (Kirmayer et al.) That is, a person, knowing his or her character, emotions, and desires, learns to recognize the mood and intention of other people, even those with whom he or she is little familiar. For instance, a person who is fond of studying this branch of psychology will be able to literally scan the interlocutor and reveal his positive and negative sides. This skill can benefit HR specialists because such clarity in understanding human feelings can be an advantage when selecting qualified personnel. In this way, when I learn someone’s behavior, I also learn to know the people around me and to understand better what they really feel.

In conclusion, the study of psychosomatics is gaining popularity and becoming a trend among people interested in psychology like me. This direction studies the relationship between a person’s inner world, feelings, and emotions on their performance and physical health and teaches people to understand their lives, others’ feelings, and the relationship between body and mind. Due to the growing interest of specialists in this field of study, there is a debate about the relevance and reality of applying knowledge in psychosomatic in real life, but it has many advantages. These benefits are difficult to overestimate, so they are the main reason for the help of studying this field in clinical psychology. For example, I learn the connection of one’s emotional state with the body, which allows me to arrange life priorities correctly and do only what I want. My skills in managing my own life are improved, making me calmer and more measured and increasing my level of understanding of others, which is particularly useful in the recruitment or medical professions. Thus, the study of psychosomatics can significantly improve the quality of my life if I really delve into the topic and take its characteristics seriously.
