The contingency table shows the rate of violent and property crimes in North Charleston, South Carolina, compared to the national rate. The violent crime rate in Evening Charleston in 2022 was 11.71, while the average for the US is 3.88 (North Charleston, SC crime statistics for 2022, 2022). The property crime rate in North Charleston was 52.39 in 2022 compared to 19.58 nationally (North Charleston, SC crime statistics for 2022, 2022). The data presented in the table allows you to determine how much higher the crime rate in this city is than the average for the United States.

Based on the data presented in the table, it can be concluded that the crime rate in North Charleston is significantly higher than the US average. This applies to both violent and property crimes. In particular, it is possible to calculate the difference in crime rates as a percentage based on the data presented in the table. For the violent crime rate, divide 11.71 by 3.88 and multiply by 100%. Thus, in North Charleston, the rate of violent crimes is 301.8% higher than the US average. In the same way, this indicator can be calculated for property crimes. To do this, divide 52.39 by 19.58 and multiply by 100%. In North Charleston, the rate of violent crimes is 267.57% higher than the US average.

Based on data from the bivariate contingency table, it was found that the crime rate both for violent and property crimes in North Charleston is 2.5-3 times higher than the US average. Although this table does not give an idea of the more diverse types of crimes, it allows to judge the overall picture. This way of presenting and comparing data makes it visual and helps in better analysis of the information.
