From the questionnaire that was conducted to find out the social composition and dynamics of the 27 employees at Brown’s Hardware & Co, the following is an analysis of the data that was collected thereof. The first questionnaire was to find out the duration of tenure for each of the employee under the company and the following was established. It was noted that eight (8) of the workers had been employed for a period of between 0-3 years (). Another twelve (12) had worked there for a period of between 4-10 years while the outstanding seven had worked for more than ten years (10). The disparity in the number of years of active employment can easily bring about a communication deficit as the employees who have worked for longer durations tend not to relate well with their newbie counterparts.
The second questionnaire which established the terms of engagement for the employees in the company as: three (3) employees employed under a stipulated contract, while fourteen of them were permanently employed and another ten (10) were part time workers. This difference in the employee type of engagement in the company could easily make them hold different perceptions whereby; those with similar engagements such as contracts would easily relate with each other but not do the same with their counterparts with either permanent or part time status.
The third and final questionnaire was to establish the genders of the workers to which they responded as having nine (9) male workers, nine female (9) workers while the remaining nine (9) refused to respond to that question as they did not want to disclose their gender. The difference in gender may lead to communication barrier as illustrated from the data whereby nine workers did not agree to disclose their genders which indicates there is a communication limitation among the workers.
