Introduction
Our organization is a health institution specializing in acute care for medical-related harm (MRH) patients. Therefore, nurses and clinicians often encounter complicated cases, most of which result from medical errors and the implications of worker burnout. Hence, creating awareness and training staff on the benefits of adopting evidence-based practice (EBP) is critical to minimizing medical incidents and negative reparations. Since the training exercises might be costly and time-consuming, it is advisable to use readily available resources in the institution. Thus, to successfully implement the change initiatives, the organization should leverage its infrastructural, technological, and financial resources, take advantage of insurance policies, and collaborate with internal and external shareholders to ensure positive outcomes.
Resources Required to Implement EBP Training
The main resources the institution will require to carry out the nurse training on EBP include:
- Educational technologies and equipment such as projectors.
- EBP trainers.
- Training facilities.
- Finances to cover associated costs.
Training and development initiatives are effective because they inform practitioners of the latest solutions to dealing with issues and encourage continuous learning. Nevertheless, these programs are costly because they involve finding professionals who can work with staff during their free time or on duty to improve outcomes. Therefore, a more efficient approach to providing nurses with the EBP training they require is leveraging the institution’s resources. The program will require reliable training technologies such as projectors and tablets (Li et al., 2019). It is better to provide staff members with mobile devices to allow them access to information easily. Moreover, the project will need the assistance of trainers and the project will make use of lecture halls in the institution. Finally, the administration will require finances to support the training and remunerate trainers.
Types of Insurance Cover and the Benefits of Insurance Plans
It is critical to introduce the institution to various forms of insurance since administrators and patients can take advantage of benefits and offers to reduce their medical costs. Health insurance plans in the US are divided into public and private covers depending on whether they are issued by the government or private firms (Berchick et al., 2019). Public insurance includes Medicare, Medicaid, and Affordable Care Act. Private insurance covers comprise Traditional Fee-For-Service, Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), and Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs). Researchers reveal that insurance covers improve access to healthcare, enhance positive medical outcomes, and promote individuals’ sense of their health by encouraging awareness of their medical conditions (Berchick et al., 2019). Moreover, they reduce the financial strain associated with expensive medical payments and ease the pressure put on families and the community.
Importance of Internal and External Shareholders
It is best to include both internal and external shareholders in the change initiatives and solicit their assistance in completing the project and ensuring its success. The internal players include all medical staff and administrators in the institution while the external shareholders encompass consumers, suppliers, and government bodies responsible for overseeing medical institutions’ developments (Sultana et al., 2020). Internal and external shareholders can provide incentives such as financial and structural support to promote positive developments. For example, the government can work with administrators to ensure the program’s sustainability, and staff members in different departments can collaborate to streamline the project’s initiatives. Moreover, patients provide information about the project’s success and propose additional changes (Li et al., 2019). Hence, the program planners and facilitators should acknowledge the role of internal and external shareholders and include them in the initiatives for the best results.
Conclusion
Medical institutions are high-pressure environments with diverse needs because practitioners are obligated to cater to different issues simultaneously. However, training medical practitioners on the benefits and approaches of using evidence-based practices in healthcare can help alleviate the implications of issues such as diminished motivation and burnout. Nevertheless, implementing the project requires technological, infrastructure, personnel, and financial resources. In addition, it would be wise to incorporate information about insurance covers and their benefits. Moreover, including internal and external shareholders will assure continuous support for all the initiatives.
