Introduction
I have not had to use personal protective equipment in plants with high noise levels. Nevertheless, I have had sufficient experience communicating with those who work in conditions that can disrupt hearing. Hence, I would suggest that there may be some significant issues with the provision of noise abatement products. The crustal gaps can be found in most scientific fields and in real-world practice.
Challenges to the Use of Personal Protection Equipment
There is a lack of information on the extent to which these products reduce the risk of hearing impairment in personnel working in noisy conditions. The small number of studies that have addressed this issue has not revealed significant differences in the health state between those who use personal protective equipment and those who are not provided with it. This problem needs clarification and further study of why noise-suppressing mechanisms do not show proper effectiveness.
Another critical problem may be the inadequacy of the products selected by management to meet the conditions of a particular location. For example, noise-canceling headphones can be appropriate only when used with some breaks. However, the management does not consider this fact, and the employees receive this tool for permanent wear.
At the same time, earmolds often require people to be specially trained to incorporate them into daily activities. However, this product may be issued to inexperienced employees who are not familiar with the use of this personal protective equipment. This barrier can mainly be eliminated by increasing the literacy level of visitors, personnel, and production managers.
Conclusion
Thus, nowadays, numerous obstacles reduce the effectiveness of the personal protection equipment applied in the corresponding circumstances. Deeper research is needed to identify the preventive factors and fictitious effects of sound-suppressing equipment. Moreover, it includes educational programs for managers and other specialists responsible for providing noise abatement products for staff and planning visitors.
