The Story
When I was young, I was constantly changing schools from one end to another as a result of frequent traveling overseas. My nomadic life at this tender age came as an outcome of some inevitable family-related careers, which constantly prolonged and even changed the preset traveling arrangements. However, I was able to obtain an immense experience and outlook of the ‘outer-world,’ which are enviable but also full of mixed reactions to both my educational and general social life.
I came across different school cultures that had shared beliefs and attitudes, which I had to follow to the latter, even though some of them were to my dislike. In my quest for trying to be relevant in these diverse societies, I frequently got into trouble as a result of associating with the wrong crowd and consequently picking up some characters and attitudes, which were not appraised in some cultures even though being tolerated in others.
Also, I found it quite challenging towards acclimatizing the diverse educational systems with the changing environments that operated unconsciously, due to some deeply ingrained ideas and structures that did not reflect the shared understandings and responses from teachers, staff, parents, and students. While some restrictive environments thwarted off some hostility towards me, I received much hostility from the ‘open’ learning societies, which was very much the same in my home country.
However, despite these unfortunate occurrences, I did enjoy the traveling, which handed me the opportunity to learn and appreciate different educational systems, languages, and cultures while also making new friends and acquiring skills that would enable me to adapt to a diverse environment.
Point of View
A changing environment may impact someone in various ways to define their character, attitude, and general behavioral understanding of their society. Someone’s past experiences in the environments involving their home or school life can have a positive or negative influence on their future lives. Their experiences in these environments at a tender age can have an enduring emotional influence on them while drastically altering their attitudes when they reflect on the misdoings inflicted upon them by society.
A changing environment that is filled with new people, rules, and happenings can mete out sadness and negativity on a person’s behavior due to the hostility towards the changing environment in which they are not accustomed to. This can cause some constant emotional outbursts and disruptions, which can limit a person’s insinuations that they must conform to a certain set of values that can deteriorate their physical and mental health as such instances may lead to anxiety, depression, and soon after, uncontainable defiance.
However, a changing environment can also draw out some positive tidings in someone’s character and attitude towards society as they will be in a good position to better understand and cope with a diverse environment. They can quickly adapt and use their socializing skills from their past experiences, to maximize their full potential in the future, which is quite advantageous in the current modernized world that calls for diversity in all segments of life.
Also, a changing environment can fundamentally contribute to the advancement of one’s sense of agency and leadership values as they make an epistemological logic of their learning environment at a younger age. However, for this to be achieved, parents should limitedly safeguard their younger ones from some negative qualities and inclinations in a changing environment.
