Introduction
The traditional roles of men and women began to change, becoming more universal in the early 20th century, leading to greater freedom for the people. However, this process did not stop; it continued to develop social relations that became freer and more gender-neutral. The question of what the roles of men and women were from 1980 to 2016 can be viewed through the prism of historical events.

An essential aspect of determining what the roles of men and women in a given historical period are is a broader representation of sexual minorities. To the question at hand, many might answer that every American can choose their role for themselves.
Many people were critical of the emergence and spread of the rights of a new stratum of the population, warning of potential health problems. In his speech, physician Paul Cameron claimed that because of the increased number of GLBTQ+ people, an AIDS epidemic is starting that can threaten all people. Thus, it can be said that many people were skeptical about the new social norms and adhered to the traditional vision of gender roles.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the answer to which roles of men and women have changed significantly between 1980 and 2016. New social trends, such as the empowerment of LGBTQ+ individuals, have made it possible to cast aside stereotypical views. However, some people argued that men and women should hold conservative views on gender issues. However, the answer to the question of the roles of men and women was that everyone could choose their own roles.
