In fact, inter-professional practice is popularized as a tactic that promotes the delivery of top-notch health services. Unfortunately, the dynamics of the development of inter-professional mental health practice are not fully investigated, though these days, client empowerment is believed to be highly prioritized. Therefore, social work perspectives need to be explored in sequence with inter-professional healthcare. This issue seems to play a significant part in the community mental health area.
Admittedly, the concept of empowerment has proved to be an important factor concerning healthcare services, especially community mental health ones. Nowadays, the adoption of multilevel work patterns provides structural conditions that shape mental health. No surprise, empowerment practice aims at promoting social justice and agency for people who have mental health problems. In addition, “empowerment has been influenced by many initiatives in mental health policy and practice” (Cui et al., 2021). Probably, it is connected with the increasing attention to mental health discourse that can be referred to as an empowerment practice that helps clients acquire meaningful life by means of amelioration of psychiatric symptoms.
In this case, empowerment can be needed as a part of the recovery discourse. In fact, developing personal responsibility and control over life in the context of mental health is the main goal that can be achieved by empowerment in this particular sphere of social work. According to recent research, “interpretations or interventions at a broader societal level are increasingly silenced or depoliticized in the implementation of a recovery approach”(Cui et al., 2021). It is advisable to improve social work with clients who have mental disorders by implementing inter-professional practice. This means that professionals of different disciplines may be summoned to deliver health and social services together. It will help them to analyze complicated cases sharing specific knowledge.
