Nowadays the necessity of employing collaboration technologies in working activity is undoubted. No matter what professional field one is engaged in, communication tools can be successfully applied to improve the company’s performance. The development of information system offers countless opportunities for interactive communication organization.
Professional communication often implies the presence of an open collaboration field, where everyone can share their ideas, work out common strategies and make allowances in the current plans. Modern internet system offers variable options for corporate discussions. New tools are being constantly developed in order to provide the staff with safe and convenient services.
The most widely-used options for public cooperation today are Wikis, Cloud Computing, and Chats. While Wikis are the sites that facilitate the content editing process, Cloud Computing platforms such as Google Docs and Dropbox enable a working team to create a private platform for the corporate documents exchange. The most popular tools for organizing public conferences and discussions are obviously Skype and Facebook that allow the staff to keep in touch with each other without paying any membership fees.
These services let the employees spread the company’s news within both the entire team and a targeted group (Strategies: Other Collaborative Tools 2015). These platforms are likely to gain even more popularity as many companies now use a remote corporative structure. The variety of the employees’ locations makes the managers look for alternative ways of communication. Thus, Skype seems to be the most convenient tool for such organizations so far.
Basing on my own experience, I would like to point out such communicative tools as Basecamp and Join.me. The first one is a perfect way of project management. Its main benefit is the online platform that allows the team members to work with the assignments right on the site so that a lot of time is saved as they do not need to download and attach the documents in their e-mail letters.
The second tool is ideal for distant working staff as it provides colleagues with an opportunity to exchange their screen views with each other. This tool is particularly useful in case of some technical problems or while exploring some new programs –employees do not need to spend a lot of time on the phone explaining what kind of problems they have.
In order to improve corporative performance managers can adopt a new approach to project managing. This approach will imply the usage of communicative tools aimed at monitoring the projects processing at all the stages: strategy planning, carrying out, and estimating the results (Deal 2009). Sometimes the employees prefer to avoid using various communication serves on grounds of their complicacy. Therefore, it is highly important that the company’s direction provides sufficient Internet education so that all the team members make free use of the available tools.
In conclusion, one should note that the Internet strategy integration in the working process is inevitable. For that reason, one should derive the highest possible benefit from the serves the Information systems can currently offer.
