Introduction
HRH Princess Haya bint Al Hussein and HH Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum are members of the ruling family of Dubai (Hind, 2010). They are different women both in appearance and personality.
Differences between HRH Princess Haya bint Al Hussein and HH Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum
The two women have totally different personalities, unlike Haya Bint Al Hussein who love sports and even preside over the Sport Accord convention Local Organizing Committee, Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum has a soft spot for women and most of her efforts are geared towards women empowerment.
Haya bint Al Hussein is very bold and aggressive. She campaigned alone despite her deputy’s opposition to be the leader of FEI, a position which she is holds up to date. Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum on other hand is submissive and abides by the traditions and culture of UAE which requires limited interaction between men and women (Withages, 2009).
Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum is the senior wife to the ruler, however because of her low profile nature, she is less noticed compared to Princess Haya bint Al Hussein the second wife (South East Asia’s Equestrian, 2009).
Princess Haya bint Al Hussein is the only lady at the leadership of the Olympic Sports Federation and a big activist of sports especially among young people on the other hand, Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum is a big champion of women rights.
Princess Haya bint Al Hussein lives and manages her public life effectively Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum on the other hand, has chosen to take a low profile and does not enjoy publicity.
Similarities between the two women
Both Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum and Princess Haya bint Al Hussein Sheikha are Arab and hence adopt the Arab culture and traditions. This includes using Arabic as their domestic language.
In the same way they live according to traditions of UAE which among other things requires that women should have limited interaction with men. In addition, both women are married to the ruler of Dubai and therefore possess a royal status.
Despite minor controversies on Princess Haya bint Al Hussein Sheikha’s personality, neither of the women has shown any bad character to the royalty.
In the same way, both women can be said to be contributing philanthropically to the society in their various interests (Official Website of HRH Princess Haya, 2012).
As a result of their royalty, both women are powerful and command respect not only in Dubai but in the larger UAE.
