Teachers’ professionalism and teaching ability are determined by a certificate or license, the receipt, the renewal of which is regulated locally in each state separately. Obtaining a certificate or license in Connecticut practically does not differ in terms of the requirements for the national average: one must either have relevant experience or pass tests with a specialized education. Numerous universities offer their teacher training services; alternatively, there are four certification providers (Connecticut’s Official State, 2022a). Thematic tests include a questionnaire about education, a test of the level of knowledge in the relevant subject, and an assessment of educational leadership qualities. For each of these areas, including the respective subject differentiation, the site provides preparation guides that include all the necessary information (Connecticut’s Official State, 2022b). These instructions and my own experience will help me get my license.
The organization that will help me adapt to special education is SPED Connecticut. With more than ten percent of all children having learning disabilities due to developmental disabilities, this situation requires a particular approach (SPED Connecticut, n.d.). This company offers training for specialists in best practices of interaction and work with children and has channels and access to relevant educational organizations where the acquired knowledge can be put into practice. The advantages of this organization are that during training, they deal not only with important pedagogical and educational aspects of the relationship but also with the legal side of the issue in order to know precisely their rights and obligations (SPED Connecticut, n.d.). Years of company experience can contribute to continuous personal development through multifaceted communication with employees and children, and appropriate connections with educational institutions can give professional practice and development to me as a teacher.
