Since the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in February 2020, the researchers were unable to indicate the deadline after which social interaction could not be so detrimental for people all over the world. Thus, in order to accelerate the process of prediction and preparedness to ease the quarantine’s limitations, scientists from Spain created an empirical study with a sample of 5,000 people participating in a social gathering (“Covid: Barcelona hosts large gig after testing crowd,” 2021). The spectators were only allowed to visit the event on the condition that their COVID-19 test results were proven negative. The tests were taken earlier that day at three different locations near the concert venue (“Covid: Barcelona hosts large gig after testing crowd,” 2021). Every participant tested had the ability to check the test result on their phones with the help of negative code texted to them.
As far as the concert is concerned, every person who obtained a text with negative COVID-19 test results had their body temperature and IDs checked at the venue entrance. At the very venue, there were no explicit markings to check the social distancing during the concert. Thus, people were allowed to stand close to each other during the performance. However, the only strict condition applied was the obligation to wear masks all the time and take them off under no circumstances (“Covid: Barcelona hosts large gig after testing crowd,” 2021). The results of the research indicated that only six people were infected with COVID within 14 days after the show, with four of them being infected somewhere outside the venue (“No sign of infection after test concert in Spain, 2021). The caution also concerned the aspects of ventilation, bathroom use, and bar management. Considering the fact that Palau Sant Jordi is an indoor complex, every aspect of the research was done exactly to the extent which decided to draw tangible conclusions in terms of social gathering in the nearest future.
