The building of the Three Gorges Dam by the Chinese government appeared to be a significant stimulator for economic, financial and environmental changes. The project produced a social impact affecting millions of people on the basis of employment level. In accordance with the WCD, dam project impacted the transformation of job placement issues leading to the changes in the population lifestyle (China to float Three Gorges Dum, 2002).

Land management and urban planning are the integral part of economical development in China with the creation of Three Gorges Dam. It is necessary to underline the fact that the rate of employment underwent certain changes from the period of dam building. (Mentec, 2006) About 1.2 million people were resettled because of the Three Gorges Project. Governmental policy managed to tackle the problem of unemployment raise during the period of economic instability in China. It should be noted that displaced farmers’ land and city dwellers’ jobs appeared to be extremely scarce. The project became the link between environmental instability and employment development in the country. It is necessary to underline the fact that according to Research Center report, China faces serious problems connected with considerable job losses among the population; as a result, rural development policy of the country outlined the importance of job creation in rural areas, disclosing this fact as a vital for economic growth maintenance (DPA, p. 35).

The building of the Three Gorges Dam project by Chinese government appeared to be a prominent step in economical stabilization process; the vice mayor, Mr. Tan, stressed that the project promotion and its high investments would provide the creation of job places in forty industrial zones. Besides, the city offers farmers a kind of official permission to permanently settle in such industrial centers, as Guangdong and Shanghai, giving them an opportunity to replace rural duties with city jobs.

The development of law and policies within the Three Gorges Dam project appeared to cause the migrants wave into this region. Such phenomenon is closely connected with rapid increase of job placements creation. The only problem being open to discussion is related to the working conditions made for migrants; ‘The law and policies are good, but there are problems with how the local government implements them’, states the Chongqing lawyer and representative of migrant workers. (DPA. 33) Despite this fact, the economic growth is continuing to dominate due to governmental projects reducing the rate of unemployment in the country (Gleick, p. 13).

The Three Gorges Dam project appeared to become a significant stage in Chinese way to stabilization of political and economical spheres. It is necessary to underline the fact that the period of world economical crisis influenced the employment rate in China though such projects as Three Gorge Dam provided the economical stabilization through creation of a number of job places. The analysis of dam project influence demonstrated its positive and negative prints in Chinese environmental, social and economical spheres. The increase of migrant workers to the dam region is the principal indicator for economic stabilization and raise in employment rate. The problem of job losses can be gradually regulated through Chinese governmental policies and programs; the Three Gorges Dam appeared to play a significant role in the development of social, economical and political sectors of the country.
