Introduction

In my opinion, designating 2023 as the Year of the Mentor and Educator is very relevant. We already had the Year of the Teacher, which is also important, but I think many would agree that this is a fairly narrow definition. There are many professionals involved in the education system, including teachers of additional education. It seems to me that 2023 will bring all those who care about what awaits our children, the younger generation, together even more. After all, behind all the bright victories at Olympiads and various competitions, in addition to the talent of the children themselves, there is a competent mentor who was able to establish contact and guide the child to the right path.

Main body

Every year, people should look at educational issues that show what teachers, administrators, and students face. Education often becomes a prison for teachers who are called upon to teach children meaningful material. After all, in addition to transferring knowledge to children, they must perform many other functions. For example, you need to feed them when they are hungry because they live in poverty or are homeless (Inganah et al., 2023). Moreover, safety drills are being held at school simultaneously, as students and teachers should prepare to think about the next school shooter (Inganah et al., 2023). TV shows and films ridicule the role of teachers and schools, and this leads to frequent neglect (DeWitt, 2020). Politicians are trying to improve the education system, but this remains a plan, and the politicians themselves have never crossed the threshold of the school since their graduation. In all this mess, teachers should just come and do their job out of love for education and children.

The above articles listed the main problems that are part of the learning process. Almost all of these problems remain critical in pedagogy (DeWitt, 2020). One of the main ones is that education has become a policy. This has always been a part of education, but its level in schools has increased significantly in the last few years (DeWitt, 2022). However, climate change is not such a critical issue at the moment. Students are involved in this problem because it is part of modern life (DeWitt, 2020). It does not play such a significant role as to impact education substantially. Moreover, in these lists, there is no mention of such a substantial problem as outdated knowledge and teaching methods.

The new professional standard for teachers takes into account the impossibility of overloading teachers with reports, so all the tasks it sets are based on the professional skills and actions provided by the requirements for the teacher’s specialty. All planning and reporting remain within the framework of educational tasks. A separate task is to think through the regulations for managing documentation related to classroom management. After all, this is not a position, but the responsibility of the teacher to whom the class is assigned, and even here there are requirements regulated by the order of the Ministry of Education and Science. Much documentary work falls on the class teacher: he or she keeps personal files on each student in the class, draws up a class register, and plans activities. For planning to be effective it is necessary to know the individuality and dynamics of the development of each child, to select a variety of areas of work, taking into account all their features.

Conclusion

All that has been described above leads to the conclusion that the problems of modern pedagogy and education are closely related to changes in the mentality and spiritual values of society. Therefore, the personality of the teacher attracts the attention of both the younger generation and society as a whole, which requires flexibility and art in the educational process and the preservation of its spiritual and moral health. All these changes affect both higher and general education, as well as additional professionals.
