A good choice of an EMR system is vital for effective organization of work process. CureMD is a cloud-based EMR optimal for various health care systems, providing clinical and administrative operations for specialties like gynecology, oncology, dermatology, obstetrics, public health and more. Cure MD has options to add physical exams, lab orders, vitals, diagnoses, complaints, prescriptions and histories through its iOS application, Avalon. It also includes an end-to-end order entry module for effective management of lab results. Thanks to high interoperability, it allows for quick data exchange between patients, various registries, and DICOM-compliant equipment. The system reduces documentation costs thanks to a large integrated data storage capacity, while also providing cloud-based storage for sensitive data. Comprehensive and accessible data representation is aimed at reducing medication errors and diagnostic mistakes. CureMD’s clinical overview summarizes alerts, trends and patients’ histories on one screen for better accessibility. It also provides rheumatology templates for common symptoms and includes patients’ complaints and reviews of symptoms (https://www.selecthub.com/emr-software/curemd/).
CureMD, however, does not support a mobile app for Android devices, slightly limiting its mobility. The system also does not support handwriting recognition, requiring, possibly, additional time and effort to convert some documentation into digital format. These limitations, however, are somewhat mitigated by its relatively low installation and support price.
Strong project manager skills are essential in the implementation of EMR technologies. To achieve maximum effectiveness of the system’s performance it has to be strictly optimized according to the specific working conditions and required applications. Determining those in regard to one’s working environment and supplementary technologies, while also considering possible changes and developments in the processes, requires deep understanding of all workplace processes and procedures.
