The book by Vine Deloria Jr. titled Custer died for your sins offers a rare perspective on the concerns of the day-to-day life and cultural identity of Native Americans. The experience of indigenous peoples and the federal U.S. government is explicitly condemned and shows many of these tribes’ unequal treatments and disadvantages.
The impact of history and popular culture on Indian religion is paramount to the cultural identity because it attempts to educate the people. Furthermore, the public efforts maintain a mode to understand how well their rights affect how they live.
Firstly, the White man and the Indian have been in a long history of strife even though no cultural assault was as damaging to Indian culture as white Christian missionaries. Religion was a non-organized but integrated part of Indian life before white missionaries made their way to Indian reservations (LeMahieu, & Burton, 2015). The Creed of catechism did not make sense to the Indians, and the act of “giving” to the Church was alien and was contrary to the fundamental convictions of the tribes rather than of “sharing among the people. However, it contradicted the indigenous people rather than supported the missionaries’ message that such goodwill is evil (Roemer, & Deloria, 2020). Apart from the basic aspects of culture in Christianity, the model explains that missionaries sometimes confused the “saving” Indian souls with land acquisition. As taught by the Christian missionaries, spirituality was not some theology far away classified for all aspects of everyday life.
The White’s approach to indigenous people has restricted the indigenous sovereignty. Furthermore, following the white argument that they know everything and have refused to respect the non-whites (LeMahieu, & Burton, 2015). The superiority of the people has cost them lives that are also measurable to how they believe to survive. In other words, the indigenous peoples, are legally highly concerned with the main distinction between the Whites and the Indonesians in their region (Roemer, & Deloria, 2020). While the Whites were mainly from Western Europe and settled in England, the Indians came from the West. The belief that the country is hot and cold, high and snowy, illustrates that men and animals love and live off the ground by the Crow’s prayer. The land of Crow is the happiest place of all on earth with people. The interactions of Indians with white Christian missionaries explain that racial discrimination was another factor in the decrease in church attendance in reservations in the last decades (LeMahieu, & Burton, 2015). Therefore, most people believed in simplicity and mystery, but they did not abstractly in the previous Roman setting. Furthermore, people’s moods resonated from the positivity effect on how they understood to work with others. As England generates intelligence, the Indians create wisdom that helped in understanding what the people needed.
The weaknesses of white Christian missionaries often carry out humorous attacks and harm different groups of tribes (Roemer, & Deloria, 2020). Roemer and Deloria (2020) emphasize the particularly harmful impact of anthropologists and their workshops on Indian children. According to Roemer and Deloria (2020), anthropologists are called the “ideological clowns,” who perpetuate nostalgic Indian stereotypes as expected in the 19th century. If contemporary Indians do not fit into the nostalgia of the old wilderness, as depicted by their forefathers, the people might be disappointed by Anthropologists and other scholars (Roemer, & Deloria, 2020). The Indian objective is to change and improve lives through better education and improved policies through promulgating congresses. The recognition of more sustainable rights promotes peaceful coexistence and freedom from arbitrary harassment that most people needed.
Looking at the shifts in Congressional and the end of tribal auto-efficiency funding, it is understandable that the Indian tribe will be able to merge economically independent of the federal government in the next century. At present, the indigenous peoples are the best place to show the nation what could be done to grow rural communities with so much on store and tomorrow’s bright prospects. After the pit of White America this time around, the Indians turned out very smart (Roemer & Deloria, 2020). The fighting continued, and the native Indians marched into Nevada in small groups and were allotted to the public domain around the larger cities of Nevada where many people lost their lives. Finally, the people would not be able to see change or recovery in the condition of Indians. Instead, they hoped that both Indians and the United States federal government should work in tandem to offset the past and give Native Americans a better future. The amendment of the law became a struggle because the Indians demanded their rights to find a better solution within the community.
