The video for the analysis is the conversation with David Lynch – an American filmmaker, painter, video artist, and performance artist. Lynch has received three Academy Award for Best Director nominations for The Elephant Man (1980), Blue Velvet (1986), and Mulholland Drive (2001). He has won awards at the Cannes Film Festival and Venice Film Festival. Lynch is probably best known for Blue Velvet and as the creator of the successful Twin Peaks television series.

Muted preview

The muted variant in no way attracts attention, as the video just shows grey-haired man, who reminds some sage, but of contemporary look (suit, white shirt). The poor mimics usually signify that one is not interested in the things he/ she tells, but further watching (un-muted) persuades in the contrary fact. It is necessary to mention, that the face seems too tired, and the man looks too upset. Most probably, the look of upset is given by deep wrinkles on the face, and slightly raised eyebrows.

Mr. Lynch makes almost no gestures, which signifies absolute calmness of the personality, which is always attributed to self assured people, and people with huge life experience. The only one which may be noticed is when he answers the question on painting, and this gesture just denotes the high level of emotions and love to painting (but this may be found only after sounded preview, and the muted one gives no imagination on that gesture)

Sad but vivid eyes may belong only to expressive person. It is meant, that David Lynch is really talented actor, artist and performer, and these eyes may note any detail.

Sounded preview

To realize the impression on this man it is just necessary to read the comments:

  • He is such a cute old man! He is so brilliant.
  • he describes the experience of existence so easily
  • I always enjoy listening to Lynch speak. He’s better with words than he gives himself credit for. He definitely understands economy of speech.

He makes an impression of a man who really knows the price for words, and can suit them in the right order, with the minimum amount while talking on the things that often require wide explanation, and take much time to be told.

The voice just settles the inner calmness in those who watch this interview, and the only impression is that this man adores what he does, and will gladly accept students to pass the mastery.
