Introduction

The process of decision-making implies the consideration of all possible objectives and selection of the one that seems more beneficial than the others in this or that situation. Making a decision can be particularly complicated in case these objectives are conflicting. However, conflicts of objectives and goals contribute to the development of a decision-maker. Markman (2015) refers to studies by Tversky, Shafir, Dhar, and Simonson who claim that individuals tend to avoid making difficult decisions.

Certainly, serious decisions about some important events should be taken carefully. For example, the choice of a new bigger apartment demands the consideration of such objectives and location, infrastructure, price, comfort, etc. Frequently people prefer not to make difficult decisions. Still, I believe that experience in making decisions is a useful one and should be practiced.

Main body

Nevertheless, when it comes to business or other activity involving manager-employee relationships, it should be kept in mind that decision-making should correspond to the duties and responsibilities. I believe that it is unacceptable to make decisions instead of the employees. By doing so, a manager deprives workers of the opportunities for self-development and kills their desire to be initiative and engaged in their work (Timms, 2016). A possibility to make decisions is expected to give the employees the feeling of significance and contribute to self-esteem.

Conclusion

Finally, I consider it is necessary to reveal and avoid bottlenecks in the process of decision-making. I agree with Neefjes (2016) that making decisions is a time-consuming process, and the elimination of bottlenecks can stimulate it and make it less complicated. Thus, I believe it is essential to develop a transparent decision-making process, provide some limits for a discussion of the most critical aspects, and clarify the statuses of all participants in this process.
