The lack of staff in the medical department is a serious problem. To solve it, it is necessary to consider the needs of all patients and the possibility of delegation of authority An emergency situation involves nurses and free medical workers taking part in intensive care facilities. The UAP is an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel that performs various types of tasks. They are aimed at ensuring that all patients in the department receive safe and effective care during the treatment process (Campbell et al., 2020). In a clinical setting, the nurse must be confident in the competence of unlicensed personnel before delegating duties and expanding tasks to them. In an emergency, an important skill for a UAP is to show compassion and respond quickly to circumstances.
In the event of an incident, the nurse can delegate to UAP feeding and caring for other patients. Despite the critical situation, other people are under the responsibility of the nurse. Moreover, it can be explained to non-licensed personnel that at this stage they must collect patients’ vital signs and record them (Campbell et al., 2020). Thus, UAP will take over some of the responsibilities, which will allow one to pay attention to all patients and not forget about important tasks.
Licensed practical nurses usually do what they can to help doctors or registered nurses. Since the LPN is only 4 weeks old after graduating, it is necessary to delegate duties clearly. Thus, the nurse needs to explain in detail the actions that are required in the current situation. It should be understood that careless words can cause more stress and misunderstanding. In this regard, the charge nurse calmly indicates the required things. For example, LPNs can delegate drug dispensing to patients who are not critically ill (Beckett et al., 2021). The employee will be able to carry out these actions in accordance with the information entered in the patient database. In addition, communication should reduce LPN stress levels by explaining that the staff has been doing an important job over the past four weeks. This will instill confidence in the employee and allow him to focus on the assigned functions.
However, during an emergency, the rest of the patients are left without the care of RNs. This means that at such moments it is important to create an environment where the lives of clients will not be threatened by any factors. Quality medical care is based on the fact that the patient is provided with timely and effective care. Therefore, it is important for security to give clear instructions to the LPNs and two UAPs (Campbell et al., 2020). The nurse is obliged to distribute roles between them, which will cover all the necessary actions for patients. For the successful implementation of measures to ensure patient safety, clear instructions and managerial speech are needed.
Effective delegation helps to take care of the client’s condition in the hospital ward. First of all, this is since each of the staff members knows their functions and steadily follows them ill (Beckett et al., 2021). In this case, there is no confusion or open areas in the provision of treatment. Moreover, in a critical situation, workers can change roles to more successfully complete the job. If the department needs resuscitation, one team can take over part of the duties of another. This will allow even in times of emergency to provide patients with an equal level of treatment.
