Social Media Content Development

Contemporary society has seen fundamental development in terms of technology and communication (Clarke, 2010). The internet has opened up communication and interconnection among people in all parts of the world. Social media seems to be the greatest invention of this century as far as those interconnection and globalization are concerned (Hana & Hendricks, 2012). New social media platforms are rising by the wake of the day creating more avenues of such global communication. Some of the currently popular sites in social media include Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat among others.

Whereas they have been used broadly for informal communication, these sites have also become platforms for businesses and marketing (Evans, 2010). As such, it implies that the development of content on the sites must be conducted diligently and effectively. This means that providing a schedule for posting and coming up with the actual content priority is essential to that effectiveness. This paper, therefore, embarks on educing a typical content development and drawing a plan to manage it.

Selected Social Sites

For the purpose of this exercise, Facebook and Instagram will be used as platforms for business communication for which content will be developed. These two sites have been selected on the basis of their popularity around the world. In 2013, Facebook had an estimated total subscribers of about 1.5 billion people around the world. This is an amazing subscription that reaches a pretty huge number of people and businesses (Delaney, 2013). On the other hand, Instagram was conceived lately, but its popularity and subscription have risen at an amazing rate. As such, it is essentially an interesting platform to market business products and services. The content developed therefore will be posted on both Instagram and Facebook.
