In order to identify a child’s propensity for risky behavior, as well as to implement a cognitive-behavioral approach, it is necessary to create a safe space. This method can have many variations, but it is worth highlighting the key aspects. First of all, the bottom space should fully recreate a certain situation or conditions where risky behavior can be shown (Somerset County Council, 2013). The important factor here is that there should be no real threat or potential losses. Thus, it is of a demonstration nature, but with interactive elements. This method is effective from different points of view and perspectives. On the part of the child, this will allow person to get a certain experience, to feel himself in uncomfortable or non-standard conditions (Somerset County Council, 2013). The space is a simulator where the child practices different models of potential behavior. In this way, it has a positive effect on the individual, because it prepares for life and introduces children to difficult situations from which people need to be able to find a way out.
It is essential to analyze the point of view of parents, they may doubt or feel skeptical about the project because of the prejudice that this negatively affects the child. In order to prevent this from happening, families need to be explained how such a space works, as well as give them the opportunity to participate. It is important to emphasize for adults that this is an extremely useful feature in helping children get comfortable in reality (Somerset County Council, 2013). For example, I feel relatively risk averse. I believe that this is due to the fact that during the formation of my personality I could not foresee and prepare for all possible situations. As a result, at a difficult moment I find myself at a loss, which increases the likelihood of risky behavior. However, if this trial and error method had been relevant to me in my childhood, I am sure that the code of risky behavior would have decreased.
