Technological advancement has increased law enforcement organizations’ efficiency by improving police databases, tracking, reporting, and forensic analysis. To maintain peace, speed up reaction times, and improve the quality of life in towns and cities, the current aim is to offer assistance to police operations safely, responsibly, and transparently. Such innovative technologies as drones and Live911 can protect the community and enhance law enforcement services.
Drones, remotely piloted unmanned aerial systems (UAS), are an efficient means to give police authorities the vital information they need to respond to service requests, deal with emergencies, or carry out criminal investigations. Securely emptying buildings inside, offering an aerial picture of a scene or incident, and looking for missing people are a few illustrations of how UAS can be helpful for ground troops. Thus, drones can help fulfill the #1 objective for police – to protect the community.
Another example of enhancing law enforcement services with technologies is the Live911 software. Response to crises is time-sensitive; therefore, Live911 uses distance-aware online monitoring to fill the gap between 911 callers and first responders on the scene. When a 911 call is received, the system instantaneously distributes it to officers in the field. They can view the caller’s position on a map and proceed in the direction of the event. Thus, Live911 significantly accelerates reaction times, heightens situational awareness, and contributes to protecting the community more effectively.
To conclude, these new police technologies are a way to enhance the safety of the community and first responders. These programs need to be allocated to City/County budgets nationwide. Drones and Live911 can speed up reaction times, maintain peace effectively, and enhance the quality of life of the community.
