Disseminating information to the public in a proper manner is important in ensuring effective communication. There are different ways of communicating to the public and disseminating information to the community particularly when discussing the importance of information technology. There is a need to use different communication techniques for effective communication (Nieleson, 2008).
The most effective way of disseminating information to the public is using media (IMAS, 2005). Majorly, media is subdivided into four broad categories as follows: interpersonal communication, small media, traditional media, and mass media (Nieleson, 2008). Small media and the mass media are reliable when communicating to the community members about the importance of information technology and the use of EHR systems.
Small media involves using various tools of communication to support the larger communication programs (Nieleson, 2008). It is used to demonstrate interpersonal communication. As such, I will communicate the findings to stakeholders using posters, cassettes, video, T-shirts, loudspeakers, brochures, and slide sets among others (IMAS, 2005). It is important to use communication methods that the community and stakeholders can understand.
On the other hand, the mass media provides direct communication to the community and the public (Nieleson, 2008). Considering that the mass media targets many audiences, I will disseminate the project findings through community radio, national and international radio, and television (Nieleson, 2008). Alternatively, I will also use newspapers, magazines, cinemas, and books (Nieleson, 2008). These categories can reach many people.
To ensure effective communication, it is important to provide a social environment that would support the entire process. In addition to this, an individual should urge the community members and the stakeholders to communicate to others about skills they have learned to ensure a successful communication process (IMAS, 2005).
