Topic
Emiratization is a rather recent addition to the UAE economic environment. The phenomenon is defined as the process of creating job opportunities in public and the private sector for the UAE citizens. The reasons for the state initiative are rather obvious. With many migrant workers employed in public and the private sector, unemployment rates are growing rapidly among the UAE citizens. To avoid an economic crisis, a change must be promoted in the target environment. However, Emiratization has its pros and cons. Surprisingly enough, some of the locals are also not quite supportive of the process. The objective of the study, therefore, concerns the identification of the opinions that both the UAE citizens and the migrant workers have on the phenomenon, as well as on the idea of working in the private and the public sector. Thus, an objective assessment of the effects that Emiratization will have on the UAE society can be provided. A detailed analysis of the issue will help shed light on the means of addressing the negative impacts of Emiratization, at the same time, reinforcing its positive aspects.
Literature Search Process
The process of locating the literature that provided a deep insight into the issue was admittedly complicated. Since there were a plethora of studies addressing the issue of Emiratization, it was rather difficult to identify the ones that could be considered as landmarks in studying the Emiratization. Furthermore, most of the studies had a range of limitations as far as their credibility and the applicability of research results to a wide range of populations were concerned. The impediments in conducting the literature search were addressed by synthesizing the data retrieved from the sources so that the essential information could be retrieved. The research limitations, in their turn, were reviewed carefully so that general data that was not affected by the study constraints could be collected.
Literature Review Findings
An overview of the recent studies on the subject of Emiratization has shown that the process is, in fact, supported extensively by the majority of the UAE residents. The outcomes described above are quite understandable. Indeed, the creation of job opportunities is a positive change for Emirati residents.
However, the analysis of the latest studies has also shown that there are many reasons for the private and public sector to decline the UAE candidates’ offers. For example, some researchers point to the lack of English skills as an obstacle to successful communication between an organization and a UAE employee. In addition, the lack of competencies required to provide high-quality services affects the choices of public and private organizations. Therefore, to have any effect, Emiratization must be coupled with opportunities for staff training. However, the specified step may cause protests among UAE citizens.
Conclusion: Supporting the Research Idea
The review of the available literature shows that there is an obvious conflict in the UAE economic environment. Emiratization is likely to have a positive effect on the state economy and its citizens’ well-being. However, it needs to be supported with extra tools, such as the training options for improving UAE candidates’ expertise. The effects that Emiratization will have on the status of migrant workers are also very controversial. Thus, analyzing the attitude toward Emiratization and its effects among the UAE citizens is a necessary step toward improvement.
