Introduction

Erectile dysfunction causes a constant inability to realize and sustain an erection that is long enough to allow adequate sexual performance. It is a widespread problem across the globe as it has affected a huge proportion of men. Erectile dysfunction has remained challenging despite the introduction of different drugs and methods of tackling it (Hsieh, Hsieh, Chang, Chiang, & Yang, 2016). The condition influences psychosocial and physical wellbeing, over and above having a considerable impact on the quality of life of the affected individuals and their partners. Erectile dysfunction is common in men at their middle adulthood, prevalent in those above sixty years of age, and rare among the young adults.

Venous Surgery

Under the physiologic model of sexual function in men, a normal veno-occlusive approach is fundamental to start and sustain a firm erection. Surgical treatment of men who have venous leakage, akin to corporoveno-occlusive dysfunction, was anchored in the reduced blood flow in the course of an erection. The early accounts of short-term outcomes were assuring although the lasting gains of penile venous ligation surgical procedure were restricted. The majority of medical guideline boards affirmed that operations undertaken in an effort to restrict the penis’ venous outflow were not commended. Accordingly, the surgical approach was almost disregarded in numerous medical societies across the globe (Hsieh et al., 2016). The adverse postoperative results appeared to be caused by the indispensable application of electrocautery as well as inadequate venous administration, rooted in established anatomy of the penis. Advancements in excellently comprehending the male penile venous structure have facilitated the development of a superior stripping surgical procedure. The sophisticated stripping surgery has been found to be a more radical and viable procedure.

Which Is Better?

The Food and Drug Administration has endorsed four comparable drugs for sexual dysfunction in men. They encompass Viagra, Cialis, Levitra, and Stendra. The four drugs operate in a similar manner by establishing an erection through augmenting the flow of blood to the penis. The choice of the best among them relies on personal preferences for a fast onset, suitable duration, and health concerns. The factors to use to evaluate the drugs to ascertain the most valuable one encompass pace of onset, side effects, the period of action, and drug interactions. Side effects have been confirmed to be similar as all of them can cause flushing, headache, stomach upsets, and, rarely, a painful erection (Klasco, 2018).

Similar to side effects, drug interactions among the four drugs are alike. Under the speed of onset, Stendra has proved to be the greatest, usually showing effect in only fifteen minutes while all the others take about one hour. Regarding the period of action, Cialis has been found to be the longest performing, as it remains effective for about 36 hours, which eradicates the requirement to take a drug for every sexual encounter (Klasco, 2018). Therefore, there is no single measure of the best drug. However, for the pace of onset, Stendra stands out similar to the case of Cialis when it comes to the duration of action. It is advisable to consult a doctor for an assessment to determine one’s suitable drug.

Conclusion

Erectile dysfunction results in constant inability to realize and uphold an erection long enough to permit adequate sexual experience. It has remained challenging regardless of the introduction of different drugs and surgical procedures of addressing the problem. The refined penile stripping surgery is a radical and viable process. To evaluate drugs and determine the most effective one, there is a need to consider the pace of onset, side effects, drug interactions, and period of action.
