NGOs can be considered a long-running socio-political experiment on how societies can support themselves in a chain where voluntary donations get converted into a diversified public and environmental benefit on local and international levels. The most responsible part of the process is achieving the donors’ trust and finding ways to represent the results of the spending, which can be difficult due to the often-blurry consequences of humanitarian efforts. Those include informational campaigns on issues governments and for-profit organizations hesitate to recognize, promoting sustainable social and environmental development, and encouraging a stakeholder-centered business approach that benefits the public and minimizes negative environmental impact (Bessa, 2022). While NGOs are mostly local incentives focusing on specific regional issues, it allows them to efficiently distribute resources and build public relations within a local community, potentially expanding their operations as the support builds up.
Fundraising consultants are a prominent example of how new forms of public relations and organizations can create previously non-existent processes and jobs, providing opportunities for people with specific networking and social skills. Given the central idea of most NGOs of working outside of or against governmental and private business ventures’ interests, it is not surprising that individuals with similar mindsets are the main supporting force of NGOs. Building productive cooperation with such individuals is one of the fundraising consultants’ essential duties, and using various tools like direct mail and social networks provides a broad range of opportunities in this regard. However, the potential dangers of the age of information, including various scam techniques, may deter potential donors, leaving live communication and personal and organizational credibility essential elements of NGOs’ fundraising efforts.

Therefore, it is highly likely that public relations will remain among their top priorities as long as individual voluntary donations are the number one funding source for non-governmental organizations.
