The young ‘digerati’ segment consists of the young people, especially from teenage to early thirties, who love trendy eyeglasses. This segment has low expenses but with discretionary income and are very much interested in differentiated eyeglasses (USCS, 2012). This group is ethnically diverse and consists of 11.19% of the UAE population. The Celebrity segment consists of celebrities from different fields, such as sports, entertainment, and business. They can purchase expensive eyeglasses that are customized. The group forms almost 4% of the UAE population and have an active lifestyle (Lambert, 2010). The visually impaired segment consists of customers who use eyeglasses for the purpose of enhancing sight because of eye problems.
This segment depends on the eyeglasses to strengthen vision. This group is ethnically diverse and spread across the UAE. This segment forms the majority of potential customers for eyeglasses in the UAE (Lambert, 2010). The old-aged segment consists of people who are old and need eyeglasses to enhance their vision. The elderly population is almost 20% of the total population. They require eyeglasses that are relatively affordable and effective. However, this segment does not consider fashion trends as the main determinant factor when purchasing eyeglasses. Generally, their disposable income is very low (Lambert, 2010).
