The American government had to ensure the safety of its citizens; hence, it had to take affirmative action. The Iranian militia took hostage fifty-six American people; this is an ascertainment that the end of the Cold War period ushered in the War on Terror. Some of the American people were rescued, but others did not make it out of Iran.

The end of communism resulted in the formation of numerous radical groups. The movie Argo tries to depict the aspects of terrorism that were in existence during this period. The war on terror continues up to this day to ensure the American people are safe at all times, especially from the threats of terrorism that have been rampant recently.

The movie is based on the Post-Cold War error when the American people were hopeful that the reign of Bush would be fruitful as was the case during the reign of President Reagan. Bush had managed to defeat the Democrats’ candidate in the 1988 election, and although President Reagan’s rule was characterized by an increase in economic growth and development, the inflation rates dropped drastically.

The USA and USSR were the world’s superpowers during the Cold War period, and animosity existed between the two superpowers as they viewed each other as enemies. In about 1991, the period of the Cold War came to an end, and that ushered in the period concerned with the war on terrorism. The USSR collapsed at the end of the Cold War, and America remained the world’s superpower.

The United States was forced to adapt to the new conditions, budget allocations towards the military were cut down. Also, there were advancements in technology, and the use of cloud computing became widespread in the United States of America. The end of the Cold War continued in the era of war on terror, especially with the Middle East.

George Bush’s reign was characterized by several international military engagements in the Middle East. Bush dedicated the state’s time and resources to ensure that the state of Kuwait was liberated from Iraq. The end of the Cold War forced the United States to formulate new military strategies and plans. The war on terror became the most pressing issues for the US government.

This is ascertained by the involvement of American military personnel in the Middle East and other parts of the world (Good 47). The fall of communism overhauled America’s international policy. President Reagan’s rule was very distinct from President’s Bush rule; this is because President Bush needed to formulate new leadership strategies.
