Introduction

Fire protection plan can be defined as a process in which people within a society use all means and methods available to prevent fire outbreak, and avoid damage and challenges that the fire can cause. There are many causes of fire breakouts including electricity, gases, and cigarette sources, among others. For the firefighting process to be effective, firefighting equipments should be given to the community members to use them in case of a fire outbreak. These equipments include various types of fire extinguishers. They contain carbon dioxide, water, dry powder, foam, hose reels and wet hydrant risers among other substances (Chadderton 351).

Main body

Before any construction is done by civil engineers, a fire action review should be taken (Diamantes 2). This is done by the firefighting department so that future destruction that might be caused by fire is prevented. Under site review, roads that lead to the construction area should be well constructed to allow for passage of vehicles, which might be used while fighting fire in case of an outbreak. By the time of review, both the contractor and the premises owner should be aware of the benefits of the review plan.

The planning process is a way in which systematic order of precautions concerning fire is done to achieve desired goals and objectives. While carrying out fire prevention planning process, various steps should be taken into consideration. An individual should have it in mind the purpose of master plan to achieve the planning process. This allows the person to be goal oriented and makes the plan should a long lasting initiative that is within a reasonable cost. For instance, the expenses used in installing the firefighting equipments need to be well elaborated. The plan should fit into the changing needs of the people, who will be using the premises.

The scope of the master plan should be identified, meaning how long the firefighting equipments will take before they expire. A question about the geographical area of the plan coverage should be put into consideration. For instance, a market place with a wide diameter should contain enough firefighting equipments. This can only be achieved when there is good screening of the scope of master plan.

To prevent fire outbreaks in a wider area, it is important to outline key issues in the master plan together with community members. This means that there should be proper dialogue between the community members, the planner and other stakeholders. Such dialogue brings together an understanding of issues related to fire prevention. While manufacturing firefighting equipments, simple instructions and methods of use should be indicated clearly and in a well understood language, to allow a layman to use them without any difficulties. This means that the use of these equipments should not be complicated and thus any person should be able to use them easily in case of fire despite his/her education level, social status, exposure and age, among other factors. It is important to train people in the organization or premises on how to use the firefighting equipments (US Fire Administration 7).

The above overview planning process has various advantages which include provision of well established mechanisms to prevent any fire outbreak. This happens in stakeholders’ meeting, in which the procedure is provided; therefore, anyone attending the meeting will have an idea on the basics relating to firefighting procedures. The process also allows an acceptable means of controlling procedures to all the community members in that, there is training for the community members who are commissioned to use the equipments. A well planed fire prevention process will save money, because standard equipments that are of high quality are installed at a fair cost; their durability also saves money too. Prevention is better than cure and therefore, loss of property can be avoided in advance through fire prevention measures. This helps the community members to avoid fire damages which may cause victims their life and property. Another great advantage is about life saving and property protection that can be achieved since there is clear procedure to be used in case fire outbreaks. When planning is done well, it can easily attract the donors who might offer to assist in the achievement of the fire planning prevention project. The well wishers may also be involved and thus contribute to the expenses required to install the firefighting equipments. Support from politicians is paramount since the process is meant to prevent deaths and loss of property at a national level and they would help it become an effective plan that ensures the safety of citizens (Shultz 51).

When a well structured fire prevention plan is put in place and the community members are involved in the planning, it is easy to fight any catastrophe brought about by the fire. To achieve this, community sensitization and demonstration of fire fighting equipments is necessary (Foley 22).

Fighting fire can be very costly especially in countries where there is poor planning. For an individual to avoid such inconveniences, he should undertake extensive consultations and proper baseline surveys to know exactly what challenges are involved in putting off fire, especially in large and tall buildings. It is recommended that any developer who needs to construct a building should have expatriates and a firefighting professional who can provide necessary guidelines before a building is built. Government departments are encouraged to supervise ongoing work before its completion to avoid future fire accidents.

Conclusion

In conclusion, fire prevention procedure is a helpful process which if well planned and used could save millions of lives and investments from fire destruction. The above discussed ideas are vital when anyone wants to construct a building. Every developer should put into consideration the fire prevention rules and guidelines established by the government and other players in the field.
