Data and Analysis: Identification of Key Factors
The insufficient current level of GEMS World Academy teachers’ readiness to offer first aid to children in school is identified as the area of weakness. It is essential to promote the improvement in the detected area and inform teachers, students, and parents about the goals and stages of the change project.
Mission, Vision, and Core Values
GEMS World Academy’s mission is to “inspire inquiring, knowledgeable, reflective, and intercultural” students who would become “morally responsible leaders” (“Why a GEMS education,” 2019). The school’s vision is delivered through its core values which include pursuing excellence, growing by learning, leading through innovation, and global citizenship (“Why a GEMS education,” 2019). The safety of children’s health is the basis for the school’s performance, thus, validating the need for change.
Action Plan: Clarity of Objectives
The proposed plan addresses several goals that need to be achieved:
- The development of first aid training for teachers;
- Parental engagement in the promotion of the change importance;
- The development of the schedule of skills practice sessions;
- Revision and improvement.
Action Plan: Alignment of Strategies and Activities
The changes will be carried out according to the plan consistent with the school’s priority of children’s safety. All the activities and interventions initiated within this plan will be aligned according to the school’s strategies.
Monitoring
The controlling responsibilities will be given to the school’s administration while different goals will be led by different school representatives through data collection and analysis (Tomal et al., 2013). Chosen teachers and the school nurse will develop a schedule, and the school board will revise and monitor.
Methods of Plan Development, Review, and Implementation
A team of responsible individuals and the controlling staff will meet every month to review the achievements and provide corrections to the plan implementation stages. The results of the meetings will be reported to the administration.
District and State Responsibilities
The proposed school change plan is supported by other educational organizations in the district and has gained positive feedback from the school staff thus ensuring external and internal approval.
School Support Team and Board Action
The responsible members of the plan implementation team need to report about their achievements to the administration upon every meeting.
The plan is consistent with the mission of the district. The faculty are aware of the mission and vision of the school but need to align the change plan according to them. During the meetings, such mission and vision priorities as knowledge, reflection, responsibility, and safety will be articulated as the guidelines through which the change plan will be implemented. The abovementioned goals are the change initiatives aimed at school change accomplishment.
