A bright and robust speech is when the audience catches every word of the speaker, gesture, and change of intonation. It is the ability to inspire and delight with the speech. A good presentation requires preparation, and the Glassblowing Speech is an excellent example of how to catch the audience’s attention. Speaking in public and engaging an audience is a great art, and a speaker demonstrates a mastery of it from the very beginning. Even from the introduction, the presenter attracts the audience’s attention by posing a question (Draper, 2020). Live communication, reasoning aloud, and joint discussion of questions are the primary methods that help to interest and involve the audience in mastering the topic. It is crucial to present facts, ask for opinions, and draw conclusions from the audience. It is the strategy the speaker adheres to, which makes her a good attention-getter.
Moreover, she first outlines the presentation’s main points, including the history, followed by the tools and appliances necessary to make the glassblowing function. The last point is the beauty and functionality of the final products (Draper, 2020).
This approach contributes to a more reasonable audience understanding by adequately structuring the presentation. The speaker stuck to the topic clearly, so she was easy to listen to; she felt confident, and the speech was calm (Draper, 2020).The oration was logical, contributing to a complete understanding of the story, and accordingly, the delivery fully met the theme and purpose. The text was prepared beforehand, allowing to avoid hitches, long silences, repetitions, and awkward situations. The narrator almost did not take her eyes away from the screen, which made her feel very present and involved.
Moreover, she had great energy in her voice, enthusiasm, and love for the topic, which only made it more interesting. The high-pitched tone held the attention, and one did not want to take one’s eyes off the screen (Draper, 2020). This way of laying out the speech facilitated the connection between the sentences and parts of the presentation. Supporting the story with illustrations promotes a deeper understanding of the subject of the speech and creates a desire to study the topic in more detail.
Furthermore, the author gives examples that fill the speech, making it not dry but full and more enjoyable. She included the brake light as the author used phrases to conclude, in the end, and thus she brought the audience to the end of the presentation. The author likewise emphasized the speech’s main points and cemented in the audience’s mind the main conclusions of the story (Draper, 2020). The speaker did it very briefly while addressing the audience, which was adequate. The end can be called strong because the story ended by stimulating the audience to think and search for answers to questions that promote memorization of information and its synthesis.
From the oration, I have learned that the main task of the speaker is to transform a fresh speech into a colorful and memorable text that will attract the entire audience’s attention. The combination of colloquial and artistic pronunciation styles helps to create an effective self-presentation, to gain the confidence of listeners, to inspire them with some information, and to stimulate them to action. For public speaking to be successful, speakers should keep in mind the means of communication with the audience. To fully master the art of public speaking, it is necessary to combine gestures, facial expressions, and eloquence properly.
