Thomas Friedman states that our world is flat, emphasizing that it becomes rather tiny as well-known organizations from different countries can easily cooperate, and numerous companies expand becoming multinational. In his book, Thomas Friedman claims that globalization breaks the walls that exist between the countries and link it with the sphere of IT. He underlines the value of information in today’s world and says that knowledge is the thing people should look for. Friedman is sure that it is not that important to build a stable life in a particular place. He considers that it is much better to travel and update one’s knowledge.

Still, such views cannot be accepted for granted. In his work, Friedman develops ideas that are mistakable to some degree. For example, he sees globalization only as companies’ privilege related to the transfer of knowledge and best practices while other industries and spheres are ignored. He describes the advantages of globalization such as breaking the walls between countries without mentioning those restrictions and frameworks that it builds. Except for that, Friedman limits his discussion and speaks only about the countries that do not face many problems, are developed, and have a rather high quality of life level.

Friedman’s book and his speeches are likely to meet the point of view of a particular population that includes people like him. He privileges those who have an opportunity to do what they want not thinking of what they will eat later or how they will pay the rent having no decent income. He is looking at the world from the airplane windows, seeing only those who are at the top of the world while others are invisible to him. His views do not show that the world became tighter but emphasize the distance that exists between the populations.
