Introduction

Global Leadership and Organizational Behavioral Effectiveness (GLOBE) is a developed program that explores cultures of different countries. It carried out research on national cultures and examined them in a holistic way and various dimensions. On the same note, History has proved that geography, political and ethnical differences have helped in creating dissimilarity among the people. In line with this, the modern and advanced technology has helped people to learn, understand and appreciate cultures of other people. As a matter of fact, people have a great interest to know how others are similar and different from others. It is against this background that GLOBE has explored various ways of studying these two disparities.

GLOBE research program

GLOBE is a major project whereby world scholars examined the interrelationship among different cultures in society as well as organizational culture and leadership in organizations. It was first incepted and planned by Robert House who was later joined by other like-minded enthusiasts. Since it was a cross-cultural program, there was need to include co-investigators from other parts of the world. These groups formed about a network of 150 County Co-Investigators (CCIs). They formed the members of GLOBE community. The CCIs are concerned with project leadership in their respective cultures in which they are at best. They collected data and analyzed them according to cultural context. The GLOBE program usually makes dissimilarity between what various societies consider to be of value and what they really put into practice (Currie, p. 9).

The Objectives of the GLOBE

The main goal or objective of this strong program is to develop a benchmark theory that describe and understand the impact of specific cultural variables on leadership and organizational processes and their effectiveness. These objectives try to answer questions on which leader behaviors, attributes and governmental process suitable and successful to all cultures in the world. They also attempt to offer concrete answers which are effective on some. These objectives answer the questions on effect of violating cultural values that are pertinent to leadership and governmental practices.

Furthermore, this program has four important phases. The initial phase deals with building up of research mechanisms. In this phase, researchers develop questionnaire scales to come up with cultural differences from personal responses. The next phase brings the results of assessment of the nine dimensions in GLOBE program. This phase also develops measures of variables in ethnic groups. It achieves this by completing all data collection. The third phase examines the impact and usefulness of a leader’s conducts and approaches. It identifies some features of leadership and relationships between organizational eventualities. The last stage deals with utilization of ground and laboratory research for affirmation. This may quite often demand additional findings.

The Conceptual Model of the GLOBE

The model has a hypothetical proposition. The characteristics and entities that distinguish one culture from the other are predictive of the practices in the organization. These attributes should be acknowledged and valuable in a particular culture. This will follow an integrated theory to bring strong propositions which may most likely affect what leaders do as well as organizational norms, customs and practices.

Conclusion

In a conclusion, it is essential to note that this program has assisted quite a number of scientific researchers on a global scale bearing in mind that it has been used in different educational institutions as a model. Moreover, the objectives have also been of great help to many interested parties in integrating leadership with various world cultures as well as organizations. This program has been instrumental in promoting interrelationship in leadership and businesses in many countries.
