Group development stages are important in building teamwork among workers. Development stages are the steps within an organization that lead to the realization of success for a company. The development stages are developed by the human resource department to control workers. Group properties are a set of rules within an organization that governs the conduct of all workers. Understanding group stages and properties will help workers know what is expected of them at work. Workers are also able to deliver their best since there will be no conflicts of interest among the workers. Stages of development orientate a worker to the challenges that they are likely to face at work. This will prepare them psychologically for any eventuality. Therefore, through group properties, managers can set out targets for each worker. The output of the organization will increase because every worker will work hard to deliver his target. As a manager, I will develop an orientation program for workers. Each worker will be taken through intensive training of stages of group development and properties before a contract letter is issued to him. The workers should be motivated during the training sessions to ensure maximum understanding of the stages and properties.
The best strategies to reduce workplace conflicts among workers are through the proper organizational plan, promoting a good environment for workers, and resting the workers. A proper organizational plan aims at defining the roles of each worker within the organization. This will reduce the conflicts that arise from the poor assignment of duties. Hence, workers may find themselves in one point of work leading to a conflict about who is to work there. A good plan will distribute the workers to different points. An organization’s environment will reduce the health hazards that cause-effect on workers. Workers’ confidence will therefore build and there will be no conflict between workers and the management. Resting workers will reduce the monotony of doing the same work and burnout. The employees will work without stress and deliver the best results. Usually, stress is linked to workplace conflicts. The best criteria to determine the best strategy is through engaging all workers. When everybody is brought on board, the decision will be accepted by everybody.
Strategies for group development and conflict resolution
An effective group is a combination of various strategies. All the strategies developed to promote an effective group should be all-inclusive. When everybody is brought on board, many ideas and innovations will arise. This will give room for an eventual discussion to choose the best strategy. At this point, the strategy that will be settled on will be binding to all and will get the approval of all. The implementation process will become easy.
Conflicts within an organization usually arise for several reasons. These reasons include workplace stress, poor working conditions, too much work, and poor organizational planning. The best strategy to resolve the conflicts should first determine the root cause of the conflict. When the conflict is known, the parties involved should be brought on board. The judgment to resolve a conflict should not be biased; it should be based on the principle of natural justice and group principles to ensure fairness. Every party should be given equal time to express themselves and a judgment based on the facts presented about the conflict should be provided.
