Minor Incident

Minor incidents are the incidents that can be dealt with locally. In case of such incidents, people must inform the staff members, and those must deal with the incident and inform the responsible securities via the radio transmitter. The staff members also must stay at the location and wait until all the needed resources to resolve the problem are provided (Ergu, Kou, Shi, & Shi, 2014).

Major Incident

In case of major incidents, people must immediately inform the personnel and the securities, and those must inform the head of security and the project manager providing all the information about the incident. Then the project manager must assess the situation, make sure that all the necessary resources and the first aid are provided, and decide whether the evacuation is necessary. In case of evacuation, the project manager, or any other staff member must tell people to stay calm and proceed to the emergency exit (Rausand, 2013).

Event Liability Insurance

Since this event is big and includes the basketball game and the concert, and there many types of potential risks associated with the event, it requires different types of insurance.

Insurance Policy

There are chances that the regular or single insurance program or policy will not be able to cover all the possible exposures (Hufeld, Koijen, & Thimann, 2016).

Thus, apart from general liability insurance, there are special kinds of insurance that must be taken into account (Kunreuther, 2015). All the risks associated with this game can be divided into three types, and, consequently, there are three main types of insurance that will be needed to cover these risks:

  • Health Insurance.
  • Property Damage Insurance.
  • Event Cancellation Insurance.

Event Liability Insurance

Insurance Assessment

Type of InsuranceRisks AssociatedCoverageNecessity
General liability insurance.Minor property damage, minor injuries.
  • Protection from liability lawsuits and claims in case of property damage and injuries.
  • The expenses on the property repair and on the injuries happened to guests and sportsmen during the event (Cappellini et al., 2015).
This type of insurance is the most important one, as it covers the risks that are very frequent during such events (Kunreuther, 2015).
Health insurance.Any risks associated with injuries and deaths.
  • The expenses on minor and major injuries players, celebrities, special guests, and ordinary visitor if they are caused by fire, sandstorm, crowd crush, slippery floors, food and drinks, or sports injuries happened to the players.
  • The expenses on the funerals of the victims and the moral compensation to their families if their death was caused by one of the hazards during the event (Hufeld et al., 2016).
This type of insurance is especially necessary when the risks of major injuries and deaths are high. However, there were cases of deaths during such events. Therefore, it is necessary to buy this kind of insurance in case of such events (Kunreuther, 2015).
Property damage insurance.Any risks associated with the property damage.
  • The expenses on minor and major property damage caused by one of the potential hazards during the event.
  • The expenses on the completely destroyed property in case of fire, sandstorm, or a crowd crush (Ammon et al., 2015).
This type of insurance is particularly necessary when there is a risk of the major property damage. There were cases when similar events suffered a serious property damage because of fire and fans clashes (Cappellini et al., 2015).
Event cancellation insurance.Sandstorm, fire, power loss.
  • The expenses on the organization of the event (lease, special equipment, and so on).
  • All the extra expenses required to organize the event once more after its postponement (Ammon et al., 2015).
This type of insurance is necessary when there is a big chance that the event will be cancelled or postponed. In this case, it is unlikely, but nevertheless, buying this insurance will make it faster and easier to organize the event once more if something goes wrong (Hufeld et al., 2016).
