As a nurse, one receives a substantial range of responsibilities and tasks to address, which is both exciting and excruciating. However, along with the specified responsibilities, a nurse also gains noticeable authority that can and should be used for the benefit of others. Since a nursing degree offers numerous opportunities for addressing public health issues, I will use it to educate patients, enhance the rehabilitation and recovery processes, and be an excellent caregiver.
Specifically, I will seek to increase e the levels of rehabilitation and recovery by increasing the levels of patient literacy. Health awareness and understanding of key public health issues can be promoted by using modern communication tools, particularly, digital networks and social media (Hahn-Goldberg et al., 2018). As a nurse, I will seek to engage with the target audience on social media by offering clear and extensive guidelines regarding specific health issues prevalent in the target community.
Moreover, I will adopt a personalized approach to each patient to ensure that a specific health issue is managed accordingly. Due to a rise in diversity rates within most communities, it is vital to understand the health factors specific to a particular cultural background in order to provide the best treatment possible (Hahn-Goldberg et al., 2018). Therefore, engaging in active self-education and evidence-based treatment by observing the community and listening to patients actively, I will be able to administer the treatment that will target specific health risks that make particular communities and patients vulnerable.
Finally, I will seek to amplify my skills as a caregiver. Specifically, I will seek to manage health needs of patients successfully and tend to their health issues accordingly. The goal of improving the quality of care and becoming a better caregiver will be achieved by enhancing nurse-patient communication and developing the characteristics such as empathy and problem-solving (Hahn-Goldberg et al., 2018). While the former is paramount for a nurse, the latter should not be underestimated either since it encourages innovative thinking and the application of the latest and the most effective techniques and treatments.
Due to the opportunities for patient communication and education that a nursing degree provides, I will utilize it to increase patient awareness concerning major health issues, and use it for caregiving and rehabilitation purposes. A nursing degree will open the door to successful management of numerous public health issues. Thus, I will contribute to the community and address multiple public health concerns.
