Introduction
Plastic waste is mainly created in urban areas where people find the use of plastic to be economical and effective. But it is a serious threat to the environment and it is not bio degradable. As this waste normally contains hazardous and toxic elements, if not disposed, treated or handled properly, it can even lead to land and water contamination. Plastic waste generated by the industry and retailers are not only toxic and hazardous but are also created in large amounts, and thus when not treated and disposed off properly, it leads to human toxicity. Thus it is essential to convince the mass to restrain from using plastic bags. Thus, the main aim of the study would be to find proper means that would encourage people not to use plastic bags. Additionally, the objective is to evaluate the existing public policies in context of a greener environment, to evaluate effectiveness of campaigns and awareness programs on the issue and to evaluate the role of the corporate sector on the issue. It is assumed that the result would yield that a combination of public policy, public campaign and awareness along with corporate social responsibilities would be essential to encourage people not to use plastic bags.
Literature review
Various researches and studies that have been carried out on environmental development with respect to the area of misuse of plastic bags and plastic waste are almost infinite and also distinct in their methodology and subject. Some are purely quantitative while others are quantitative. There are also studies that followed a mixed method. Among the various individual studies that have been found, only a few cover a span of more than a decade. The majority of the studies which stresses on the addition of technological and theoretical developments actually concentrate on the entire sections through social levels. The literature review mainly focuses on the fact that there are not many papers which discuss the area of misuse of plastic bags and plastic waste thus a variety of literature would be used.
The research will comprise of two parts. One a survey of the will be conducted. The other would include studying various literatures that abounds in this area. The misuse of plastic is carefully analyzed. The primary purpose will be to reach the objectives of the research using theoretical means. Two, a company will be taken up and the gain the company enjoyed by employing the green environment issues is studied. This is carried out using a survey of the company. A short questionnaire is designed so that the managers of the company are not averse to filling it up. The data from the questionnaire is used for the purpose for real time analysis. These two together will be able to help us understand and prove the various points that rose in our objectives and reach the aim of the research undertaken. Literatures that identify appropriate metrics are also identified and these metrics are checked for their validity in the current situation. If they are valid they are identified and used for further analysis. This will also help in realizing objective listed above.
The best statistical method would be to interview long well formulated day-to-day working procedure at a specific and well-selected location. Throughout the procedure, it should be noticed whether there are specific variables within the testable population or not. These variables would be extremely important while evaluating the basic data in the final stages where the adjustments would be made to the formulated data in accordance to the observations. The responses from the people will be evaluated based on the qualitative analysis techniques that has been identified and researched upon. The methods that are normally adopted would include analysing the generic responses, the psychological and preferential responses of the respondents. In addition to this, the qualitative analysis will also bring forward the various suggestions that originate from the respondents.
Conclusion
We need to understand what the best things in life are. The clean air we breathe. The clean water we drink. The food we eat. Are they not the best things we have? There was a time when these things used to be free. They would not cost you money. In fact, there was no money. Mother Nature provided for us all. However, does it any more? The answer would definitely be no. Not anymore. We have taken a lot from her but have forgotten that she needs our attention too. Today, clean air is a luxury with all the pollution around created by our doings. If you want clean air, you need to pay for it. As for water, it will not be too long before we start shelling out the plastic waste for use of each drop of water. Thus, it is important to be environment friendly and use items that are environment friendly. But plastic is a pollutant and so this study would help the environment by reducing plastic waste from the society.
