Type of The Study and Methods

This is a qualitative directed content analysis study investigating medical services experts’ view of human minding in interprofessional groups. The coordinated substance examination is an approach that investigates a wonder of revenue utilizing a hypothesis as a guide. The motivation behind this investigation is to utilize a subjective guided substance examination to approve interprofessional colleagues’ points of view on human caring dependent on the Ten Caritas Processes (Caritas-Veritas Literacy of Watson’s Human Caring Theory) inside the Unitary Caring Science (Wei & Watson, 2019). This is the level VI in Evidence Based Practice pyramid since it is a qualitative study which focuses on the small sample of volunteering participants from an interest group (Bostwick & Linden, 2016).

The investigation was set in a Children’s Hospital in the United States between November 2017 and April 2018 (Wei & Watson, 2019). Members included were the individuals who were full-time and really focusing on kids in a pediatric emergency unit moderate consideration unit where interprofessional coordinated efforts were indispensable for patients’ endurance and care. Data repetition was utilized to control the enrollment, considering which an accommodation test of 27 self-chosen medical services experts was incorporated (Wei & Watson, 2019). While the members were multi-discipline experts, there were 11 nurses and 8 physicians of 27 participants (Wei & Watson, 2019). The participants volunteered to take part in the research as the scientists called for engagement through flyers. Two types of information were gathered from members: a demographic segment review and individual meeting where they were questioned (Wei & Watson, 2019). Members finished the segment review preceding the meetings which were sound taped and deciphered.

The underlying coding classes depended on the Ten Caritas Processes®/Caritas-Veritas Literacy of Watson’s Human Caring Theory. NVivo, a subjective information investigation programming, was utilized to help the information examination (Miglus & Froman, 2016). The primary steps of the coordinated substance examination included: perusing records overall to have a vibe of the quintessence of members’ portrayals of human mindful; utilizing the Ten Caritas Processes or Caritas-Veritas Literacy as the underlying coding classes; choosing members’ statements supporting the specific code; thinking about the focal thoughts extricated and combining members’ discernments; and changing over members’ impression of human minding into a composed structure (Wei & Watson, 2019).

The researchers followed Sandelowski’s suggestions on keeping up afflictions of subjective examination including validity, fittingness, auditability, and confirmability (Wei & Watson, 2019). Sandelowski’s guidelines are valuable when conducting a qualitative study and making it precise and considerate of all the received details from the participants’ answers and observations (Zuzelo, 2018). In setting up validity, the researchers ensured that the discoveries were straightforward to members’ encounters and portrayals. To guarantee fittingness, the members of the investigation were all medical care experts who worked in the intense consideration setting that necessary a more elevated level of coordinated efforts. To look after auditability, an unmistakable review trail was saved during the exploration interaction. For confirmability, the researchers guaranteed that the discoveries depended on members’ statements across the exploration information source and exemplified the information overall.

Results

The outcomes of the qualitative study display the usefulness of the Ten Caritas Processes in cultivating the deep and compassionate care in the medical system. According to the authors, almost all professionals indicated the positive change in job satisfaction and increase in the quality of care when using Watson’s theory of clinical care versus when the medical attendant only focuses on the scientific knowledge and physical health of the patients (Wei & Watson, 2019). Each single sector of the values in the Ten Caritas complements the insufficiency in the understanding between a nurse and a patient and care delivery issues. The results mainly contain the opinionated comments from different participants, proving the qualitative prospect of the study. The feedback from healthcare professionals is descriptive and extensive. They indicate the real-life nursing practice experience and the perceptions of actual healthcare workers.

However, this study cannot be considered valid since it lacks in the quantity of the researched participants. 27 people is not a number which infer significant data about the effectiveness of the Watson’s theory in care. Each section of the caritas has an example of only two or three viewpoints, undermining other opinions. The rest of the feedbacks are generalized and there is no indication of all the 27 comments from the professionals. Thus, it can be deduced that the research is based towards the most ‘representative’ responses of the participants. Moreover, the table of results illustrates only ‘quotes’ from the participants, meaning that the words could be taken out of context. The paper is a manuscript and includes references of the other works which provides the basic knowledge on Caritas-Veritas Literacy of Watson’s Human Caring Theory and the picture of the situation in patient care and nurses’ perception and attitude.

Validity

Overall, despite the limitations of the conducted research in the sample size and full coverage of all the responds from professionals, this study is appropriate to improve the passionate nursing care and establish trustful and respectful relationship between a caregiver and a patient. The authors used the reliable tools and methods to evaluate the received responds and tried to include representatives from variable groups and be as precise about the nature of the comments from participants. NVivo is a respectable answer coding used in many qualitative researches from high-impact factor medicine and care related journals (Miglus & Froman, 2016). The authors also followed the recommendations by Sandelowski, a valid standard procedure for qualitative response analysis.

Wei and Watson show how the Ten Caritas can change the atmosphere and quality of clinical service. The outcomes and conclusions of the study will be helpful in my career to reduce the pressure between me and my patients, developing a mutual understanding. Nonetheless, as it was mentioned before, a low power analysis value due to a small number of participants and gender polarization which cannot prove the validity of results for the whole population. The character of the study is a volunteer qualitative study and aligns with level VI of EBP pyramid. Therefore, it is not enough to use the paper as a credible support of the Watson’s theory in nursing care but a quite sufficient work to comprehend the broadness of the effectiveness of the method as the provided quotes are detailed and extensive.
