Human psychology, no matter how strange or unconventional, directly connects to fulfilling particular individual needs. Every person seeks something in life, whether it is love or respect, but one opts for reaching these goals in a specific way that may seem absurd to others. Therefore, it is critical for me to realize what drives people to certain types of behavior to understand their needs and priorities.
To begin with, to dive into an individual’s mind, I tend to ask myself what this person might be feeling to pursue these specific needs. For instance, Larry C. Rosen identifies the personal human demand for fulfilling their desires, which can be rest, love, and respect (Tedx Talks, 2017). Consequently, I realize that individual behavior is mainly based on the necessity one is seeking, using specific communication types, persuasion, and showing different emotions (Tedx Talks, 2017). However, Larry C. Rosen then argues whether the outside world is that important to people when they just care about fulfilling their needs internally (Tedx Talks, 2017). In other words, internal peace seems to me the primary driving force of any human, which pushes them to adapt and behave in a way that is required to be relaxed, loved, and respected.
I have come to the conclusion that human psychology is dependent mainly only on the needs that an individual is pursuing. The only distinct characteristic about individuals is that they opt for different ways of fulfilling their internal desires, which makes their behavior totally different. Hence, from Larry C. Rosen’s speech, I have gathered that understanding the human mind is based on exploring a person’s individual goals that prompt one to act a certain way.
