Metrics are evaluation numbers used to track, assess and reveal important information about a specific process. First, metrics are important because they provide accurate and real data about the process’s effectiveness. Secondly, based on the metrics’ information, one can suggest improving the particular process. Third, metrics guide organizations or businesses to understand customers’ needs better. Fourth, metrics serve as a feedback tool because it relays information to the business, showing its satisfaction scale.
I love working out and eating well, which prompted me to develop a measurable metric plan. I have listed the workout and menu as the main parameters to be assessed in my plan. I have to assign the number of workouts done in a day while balancing the types of meals. The process of keeping fit or losing weight requires an assessment of this kind to ascertain what works best for my body.
Metrics are used in the entertaining sector to understand the coverage area, customers’ preferences, and cash flow from different areas. In the entertainment industry, I understand that companies like Showmax, Netflix, and DStv rely on metrics such as subscribers’ number and growth, watch hours, customer engagement, and earnings (Sivanathan et al., 2019). These companies can visualize how their content influences the customers by comparing metrics.
With the advancement in technology, it is very hard to point out a profession that requires no success measurement. Ranging from chefs to teachers, the professionals have to track how their skills work. Therefore, no profession does not need data since otherwise the business or organization is doomed to fail. Even though these measurements exist, some professions like barbers, drivers, police officers, and religious teachers may not require data use.
