Science can be referred to as the study of nature and its phenomena based on evidence. This field is crucial in business-related studies as it helps generate empirical data that is used to evidence concepts learned in the discipline of business. This is to imply that virtually, all concepts learned in the business discipline were validated by scientific studies. Science is key to our survival because of its role in the medical realm. An example is the terahertz technology which has promising results in cancer treatments (Dhillon et al., 2017). Furthermore, one of the critical elements of science is the use of observable evidence which might be resourceful to a business major student as it helps enhance objectivity when conducting business-related research.
Science has played a considerable role in enhancing my understanding of nature and its phenomena such as lightning, earthquakes, and seasons. Thanks to science, I know how to take precautions against lightning strikes when I am in a lightning-prone area. Everyday life activities have been made easier by science as science keeps evolving (Dhillon et al., 2017). Therefore, I use relatively less energy to carry out tasks compared to the ancient man who could not enjoy the benefits of technological advancements. Some of the tasks that have been made easier include movement from one place to another and communicating to a broad audience. Science has played an enormous role in helping me to analyze situations and ideas objectively and has largely assisted me in problem-solving.
Scientific advancements have generally facilitated the existence of society in its entirety. The crucial achievement is the improvement of the quality of life. In the past, people used fire as a source of light during the night, which is inefficient for lighting purposes and produces smoke and soot, which are health hazards. Thanks to scientific inventions like cathode rays and magnetic fields, people use more efficient and less harmful lighting alternatives such as electricity (Dhillon et al., 2017). Advancement in communication and information technology has played a crucial role in maintaining law and order in our society, which helps keep cases of insecurity in check and strengthen democracies across the world.
