Introduction
Media has always played a great role in the society, government and other fields of life. The importance of mass media cannot be denied as in today’s world every one is interested in knowing about the happenings in the world. Just for having the information about the happenings in the world and also getting the information about the famous personalities, celebrities and political leaders. Just for having such information people used to listen radio, watch television and read newspapers.
Due to the interest of people in the lives of famous personalities every type of media gives a lot of attention and time in covering the lives of famous celebrities. But apart from all these facts there should be some limits in covering the lives of the famous personalities. Different personalities should be covered in different details. There are some personalities that are the ideals of many people so there lifestyle should be presented in front of the people and there are many that should be covered just up to their professional life. (Simona Vicarova, 2007).
Curiosity of More Spicy News
People are never satisfied with the media news they always want more and more. They want to explore each and every aspect of a celebrity’s life. In such scenario it is the responsibility of the media to show the right and fair sight to the world.
- In such cases sometimes media publish news that is fake and exaggerated. Just for satisfying the public and they know that if they will publish spicy news in front of public then their sales will increase rapidly.
- For the excitement of public the media forget to respect the privacy of the personal issues of the celebrities. Although the people are very much interested with the lives of the celebrities some times because they admire these personalities to the large extent and sometimes just because of the curiosity but in any case the thing is that the media should respect the privacy and lives of these publicly famous people.
In my view the lives of the famous personalities should be covered as people are very much attracted and inspired by these personalities so the positive aspects of their lives should bring forth to the people so that they try to adopt good things from their life. It is also important to bring the negative things of public figures in front of the public so that they can know the truth and idealize the right people. The personalities become famous just because of the public; it is the public who appreciate then and idealize them so public has a right to know about their lives. - The media and paparazzi secret coverage trend is increasing just because knowing the fact that public is interested in having gossips. (The media and famous people, 2004)
Privacy Should Be Respected
Just for fulfilling the needs of the public the media some times do not respect the privacy of the famous personalities.
- The privacy of the famous personalities should be respected. Media should cover their lives but they should not interfere into their lives. Only the part of life that is related and concerned to the public should be covered not their personal issues. Media some times try to bring in front the personal issues of the public figures which are not a right thing to do as like other common people the public figures also do not want to publicly expose their personal lives.
- It is a fact that the famous celebrities have decided to be in the lime light or in the news but it does not mean that they do not have any private life. Their private life should be kept separate and no one should be allowed to interfere into it. They should be covered as much as it is necessary. Some times the extra coverage shows some negative aspects of the personalities which makes his fan following aggressive and totally against him which disturbs his or her reputation.
- It is unethical as well that the personal issues are being sold in the market without the permission.
Coverage Gets Limited
People are curious in knowing about the lives of the famous personalities and for this reason they buy magazines, watch different shows and entertainment news. But the media should give equal time to all types of information; it should not devoted to the life style of different celebrities only rather it should cover the other issues of the world as well.
- Media is just focused over the gossip and life style of the celebrities and gives no importance to the other important issues of the world.
- This act limits the thinking and concentration of people over these unimportant issues.
- It some times affects the personality of the celebrity as for increasing the sales of the paper or news media just prints untrue things as their focus is only over the life style of famous people and not over other issues of the world. (The media and famous people, 2004)
Conclusion
Depending on the personalities and to the fields to which they belong it can be estimated that to how much extent public should interfere into their lives. There should be limit of bringing the life stories of the famous personalities in front of people as everyone has privacy and personal issues. Media and paparazzi are always in search of such personalities and they try to bring out the personal aspects of their lives.
Media is always in search of spicy news and they even find it from the aspects of their lives that are not of public concern. But the celebrities like leaders and politicians who are representing the nation and whose life style is being followed should be covered by the mass media as they are the ideals of the public. (Cristina Nuta, 2007).
It is observed that most of the famous celebrities are indulged in to the activities like parties, style, glamour and scandals. Some times they think that they have right to do anything and they are involved into many wrong things. Their impression in front of the public is totally changed and public take them as their ideals. Due to the weird activities the celebrities never want that they are publicly exposed. But in such cases it is necessary to bring the truth in front of the people so that they can know that what they are following. Many youngsters follow these celebrities so they should keep their personal stuff of parties and other kind of acts that they use to please themselves away from the public.
There are some public figures that are representing the public like leaders and other political personalities. Such personalities should have a life that is clean and totally in front of the people. As they are presenting the nation so they should live a balanced lives and it is some times required that their life style is to be presented to the public so that public can follow them. These personalities should take care of their image in front of the public as they are in this position just because they are liked by the public and to some extent it is the right of the public to have information about their private lives. (Diana Mara Anghelina, 2007).
It is not that when ever media is revealing the life of the famous people then they are wrong but when they portray the public figures by presenting fake and untrue stories then obviously they are wrong and should be condemned. Some times the untrue stories and gossip are published or brought in front of the public just to mount the sales of the magazines and TV shows.
For few of these reasons like fake stories, interfering into the life of a person, gossiping and bringing their private life under discussion I believe that media should concentrate over all the global issues not only over the life of celebrities. They should also give information about the celebrities and their lives but should not forget to respect their privacy and should not portray the wrong picture. If a famous personality is just showing himself as a sincere and honest person but actually he is not then the media should bring his truth in front of the public because people usually idealize such people so they should know about their truth. (The media and famous people, 2004).
