Journal editors can involve professionals from social justice forums such as civil rights lawyers in their journals as well as reduce the complexity of the presentation of social justice article contents. This will increase the level of interest in social justice issues as well as improve the comprehension of laypeople who read social justice research studies. One interesting aspect learned from the documentary is that journal editors typically have very short terms of one year. It proves a deliberate focus on constantly bringing in new ideas into examination which is surprising given the typical rigidity associated with academia.
I would not be interested in becoming a journal editor. I would prefer to be engaged in the criminal justice system as a professional such as a lawyer or a lobbyist for social justice reforms. I would like to see researchers examine whether the consumption of conspiracy theories predicts an individual’s propensity to engage in crime. Given infinite resources, I would pursue projects that investigate the nexus between human psychology and behaviors, and criminal tendencies
Personally, I think professors do not need to publish articles periodically in addition to teaching. Some professors are vastly experienced in their field where they have held important positions. Through this experience and connection to the real world, they are well-qualified to teach their students, most of who will end up as professionals, whether they publish periodically or not. However, all Master’s level students should be required to prepare a thesis as it assists them to get a better understanding of their field and at the same time allow them to showcase their learning.
