Keep on Beating Campaign
UAE Ministry of Health & Prevention has a number of initiatives designated to help the community resolve some of the emerging and persistent problems of their daily lives. One specific program they have is the keep on beating campaign. It is designed to help more people prevent heart disease. With the increasing age of the population, it is important to manage the health and wellbeing of the people in the country. The campaign itself focuses of prevention, to give people an ability to better manage their lifestyle. The efforts include cultivating more productive and beneficial practices and managing harmful life habits. The program, including its informational material and activities, promotes better recognition of the risk factors associated with cardiovascular disease. Beyond simply raising awareness, the program also worker to drive the incentive of people to check their health conditions and control the risk factors that they are subjected to. This effort is important to the process of ensuring the health and wellbeing of the community, as well as its ability to take direct action in the face of health emergencies.
Reducing the likelihood of disease and raising awareness is a good way to interact with the community and aid individuals in better combatting various illnesses. Preventative efforts should always be taken first when addressing a problem, as it allows the most number of people to be protected from harm. However, advisory programs that seek to inform and do not have a direct force over their subject have a limited area of influence, relying on the people’s ability to understand the concerns shown to them and respond accordingly.
The initiative made to address the problem of cancer in the UAE consists of both direct action and awareness campaigns. Through collective efforts, it is possible to help the community be more informed about the issue and their health condition. However, I think that the ability to perform screenings more frequently would be beneficial to the cause, as would including more ages to the screening demographics.
