Voice Modulation

During this course on human communication, I have learned many valuable concepts and ideas that could help me improve my public speaking. The first term is voice modulation, which refers to changing one’s pitch, volume, and tone to convey a message more effectively (Lucas, 2020). I believe it is critical to master the art of voice to become better at public speaking, which is why I chose this concept.

Active Listening

The second term is active listening, and I learned that meaningful conversations are impossible without thoroughly understanding your listeners’ perspectives. That is why you must first become a good listener before trying to communicate with your audience.

Target Audience

Next, analyzing the target audience is the third critical concept that can improve public speaking skills (Lucas, 2020). I chose this term because I used to underestimate the significance of understanding what your listeners want or need to hear.

Nonverbal Communication

The fourth idea concerns nonverbal communication cues that can enhance your speech. For instance, articulation, eye contact, appearance, and body movement can drastically change how the audience perceives you (Lucas, 2020).

Persuasion Methods

Lastly, I learned about various methods of persuasion, such as appeals to logic or emotions. Each of these strategies can help convey the message depending on the audience and the context of the speech (Lucas, 2020). I am confident that these five concepts and other valuable insights into human communication that I learned during the course will help me in the future.

Summary

Effective communication and public speaking are some of the most critical interpersonal skills. These skills are useful in practically any industry and might positively impact how your colleagues perceive you. That is why I believe that the knowledge acquired during the course will stimulate my professional growth and help me connect with others more easily.
