Technological improvement has transformed the way of doing the work. This has exposed the workers to more physical condition problems. The employers should plan well how they will tackle the health issues. Planning is very important because the health issues are unavoidable in the work place. This may include mental health and job pressure. Workers should be healthy so that they may become more productive in the work place.
Healthy workers render their services for a long period of time. Healthy employees make sound and wise decisions. This helps to achieve the companies’ set targets and improve its prosperity. Healthy workers are effective in that they are quicker in responding to different tasks and also make decisions faster. This in turn improves the company’s daily operations and speed of production.
Unhealthy employees on the other hand are less productive. This is because they are slower in performance of the company’s tasks. They are slow in making decision which retards the profitability of the company. There is continuous workflow in an organization which has healthy workers. This is because they do not take sick offs unlike the unhealthy workers. The management should have a good plan on the way they tackle the health issues in an organization. The company should provide health cover for its employees in order to manage the health issues in the organization (Sloane & Witney, 2007).
The company should also have the safety measures to keep the working environment out of danger. Safety measures reduce health risks. These measures may include things like fire extinguishers, good ventilation, fire exits and first aid boxes. Stress is another major issue in the work place. Many employees experience stress due to work pressure. To reduce stress they should be trained to be organized and to do exercises. The management should always strive not to harass the employees. Harassment of employees has been proven to be the main cause of stress. There should also be a healthy relationship and a good communication between the management and the staff. There should also be a good relationship between the employees themselves.
Staff turnover is also a very important issue in the workplace. Absenteeism of the employees lowers the productivity of the company. Evaluation of the staff turnover helps the management to know whether the employees are satisfied or not. This also helps employers in making decision. It also helps employers in understanding their employees. Employees who are satisfied with their work are productive. The turnover of the employees depends on his perception of the work place. It also depends on the relationship with his seniors and peers. The seniors should treat the employees well (Torrington & Hall, 2008).
They should not act in a way that shows favoritism to other employees. Rewarding an employee may increase their turnover. Employees should be rewarded whenever they do something good. The employees should be appreciated to encourage them work even harder. Appreciation of employees may be done using the monetary or the non monetary terms. The monetary benefits may include increasing the monthly pay of the worker. Giving the money is another way of appreciating them. Employees may also be appreciated by congratulating them when they do something good. Promotion may be given to people who do a good work. This will encourage other employees to work hard hence increasing productivity of the company.
