Introduction
People have used hallucinogens for many years. They are strong types of drugs that are known to change the moods of the users unpredictably. The use of hallucinogens has a psychological effect on the user, which may even interfere with his or her decision-making process. This drug is found in various forms such as tablets, fluid form, or at times as an absorbent paper. Globally, it is perceived as an illegal drug, as it has the capability of affecting the normal way of thinking of an individual (Loue, p. 88). The use of this drug is discouraged due to its effects on how one perceives the truth, leading to hallucinations, and other effects on someone’s senses.
Main body
The key people in politics and religious groups act as role models for their followers. In big social meetings, the leaders are relied upon to provide the way forward for others to follow. For instance, in religious groups, followers act according to the wish of their leaders, the same case in political groups. When such leaders can rule with the influence of hallucinogens, this could impose a significant effect on their followers (Loue, p. 106). This could be possible, due to changes in the way they perceive things. When someone is under the influence of alcohol, he or she perceives reality in a different direction from the truth.
Neurobiologists and other science analysts have proven that the effects of the hallucinogen on the brains of the users are serious and complicated. Users change their personalities completely, hence bringing some form of conflict between their behaviors and their brains. Scientists’ proofs that most people that have used such drugs, claim some impossibility like having seen sounds, or have heard colors (Doweiko, p. 101). Consider this in real-life, whereby, a religious leader of a large congregation makes such allegations to his or her followers. This would be truly misleading people, as they have a strong trust in their leaders.
The presence of such people, who are leading big congregations, may be a danger to society. People who make use of such drugs are proven to be both physically and psychologically unhealthy. They suffer from memory loss, high heart rate and in some cases can result in high blood pressure (Doweiko, p. 98). The worse effect of using hallucinogens is the alteration of normal brain activities. The leaders, who might be using these drugs, would be leading people in the wrong directions, out of hallucinations. The way of thinking of people in society may be affected and may even lack self-awareness. A leader with impaired thinking and unexpected incidences of violence may impose danger to people in society. Decisions made by such leaders may not have enough reasons to support them and may end up causing violence instead of peace within the society.
Conclusion
Leaders should always portray principled moral values for their followers to copy, and act likewise. However, those leaders, who may be under the influence of such drugs, may not value quality morals, as their perception of reality is corrupted (Loue, p. 103). They see things differently, away from the truth, and may end up influencing their followers negatively. Leaders are supposed to act in the right manner, and influence people positively and not negatively. They should advise the public on the dangers of using such drugs, instead of acting as examples of drug users. The public requires a sober person to lead them on the right.
